Re: New to me 3.5" Ruger Vaquero in 45 Colt
Nice gun!
I have a Ruger Montado, with 3.75" barrel. It is very nice, handy size, my current favorite. Not a stranger to the 45Colt, have S&W 25-5 4"', Mountain Gun, old model Vaquero 5.5", and a Winchester 94 Legay 24" barrel.

Re: OT - Unbelievable!
Excellent!!!
It took my Dad a few minutes to recognize me when he picked me up at the camp for Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, ok it was 26 years ago.
Prayers are with you .

Re: Win 1886 Throat... how long should it be?
I have a throat reamer for 45 caliber rifle, bought it new and have used it 3 times. It opens the throat to .459" max. It is from brownell's. If there is interest I could be persuaded to donate it to the sight(free). It requires the removal of the bolt, not the barrel. Easy to do on Marlins, a ...

Re: Win 1886 Throat... how long should it be?
I have the same problem on a Browning 1886. I use a Ballisti-cast 420 gr FNGC most of the time, seated short and crimped with a Lee die. The old Lyman 462560 bullet works well, it is sized to fit the factory throat. Launching 540grs at 1600 fps should do for most animals. The recoil isn't too much.

I saw this show. As usual with the History channel, they have the funding to do a real good job and do for the most part. The added drama ruins it for me . The segment with the Army snipers shows just how difficult a cold bore shot at long range can be but the guys they showed are not the only ones ...

A white buffalo was born in Kentucky near here several years ago. The wife, kids and I went to see it soon after it was born. The buffalo farm had Indian ceremonies, etc. to welcome the little guy. I was far more impressed with the dominat male that was beeing fed. We could get within a few feet of ...

I have a 458WM Mod 70, and 2 4570 levers. The 458 with full power loads is a handfull. I would say the perceived recoil is less with the Mod 70 than with the levers just because of the design. The Browning 1886 4570 is easier than the marlin LTDV, probably due to the weight difference, but both are ...

Several years ago on the way to work, I stopped at the ATM and took out $20. The receipt said I had $ $4,835,617.89, I still have the receipt somewhere. Obviously a gross computer error. I stop at the Case factory in Bradford, PA when I go home to see my parents in Western NY. They are still made there.
