We have the same issue it seems!! My upper lens... see the field out there but, the FRONT sight is not in focus... even NOT using the rear sight! Using the LOWER lens of my Bi-focals... Front sight SHARP, but seeing the Target Center at fifty and beyond creates MUCH to open a group.... or aiming Bam...

Hmm, maybe unscrew the SMALL aperture, and run with the bigger one?? May have to give it a try tomorrow...didn't try that yet. It's TOO HOT to go out right now! LOL!

I have a Rossi 92 .357 carbine. It has the NKJ "safety replacement" peep on it. With 38's at 25 yds. It can print 3 shot TOUCHING hole groups. But, at 50 yds... The front sight/target fuzzes up on me when trying to focus.. and the groups expand correspondingly. Didn't even Bother with 100y...

Sorry, but "swing out cylinder" revolvers are not a good base to build these "atomic load" handguns on! The first of the commercially sucessfull biggies was the .454 Casull.... and it was designed on a SINGLE ACTION Framed gun for a REASON! STRENGTH! IMHO.....

Sorry didn't make it clear.... it obviously was guys shooting these in revolvers beefing about erosion at the top strap and forcing cone....seems some like these type loads for "backpacking" carry... that was what i was commenting on. Whether they are right, or full of it, I have no clue! ...

I have a 16 1/2"(?) short carbine Rossi 92. Have NKJ's safety/Peep & follower on order, and am now looking to get a good loading for deer ready... I used to use a 30-30.. and would like to get near that level of knockdown power, worked good for me before! I never seem to shoot past 100yds.....

We don't clean and oil our guns???? BP ESPECIALLY!!!! Black Powder is Hygroscopic... it ATTRACTS water from the air, SPEEDING up the rusting process!!! Even if you don't have time to give em a PROPER cleaning after shooting, pull the nipples, soak em with oil, until you CAN!

A bit more to "barking" a squirrel .. lead for bullets wasn't that readily available back then, in thew wilds, or being a "poor backwoodsman"..so by "barkin the game, you know where the lead round ball went, and were able most of the time, to dig it back out with your knife,...

Ditto on the OLD CVA's.... I have a CVA "Mountain Rifle" they sold, back in the 70's....bought in 77 or so.....as a kit, for 125.00!!! they were all AMERICAN made back then!!! Last time out, 70 grs ffg criso lube patched .490 ball.....RWS caps.....set triggers.... 2 in the black 1/2" ...

Weight of the gun has an impact on recoil... but another is the "drop" of the stock. An M-16 has an almost straight back stock, and recoil is minimal. You get a gun with a stock that "drops" alot, and you'll get a cheek banger, AND a shoulder thumper! Don't have the Marlin here t...

B-24's were the "workhorse" of the war due to longer range/heavier payload... but they were a PITA to fly.... and the Davis wing, tho it could lift a heavier load, was WEAK due to the stress/loading factor....a hit that would simply stagger and shake a B-17, would cause the wing to collaps...

Posts got me to thinking, How'd I kill that deer last fall??? Picked up the 94 and looked out the back door.. I can see em and sight. Picked up the 39M Mountie, looked out.. I can see em and sight! 92 Carbine? No go.... the other two are full size 20" barreled models... Williams & or Lyman ...

First off, I wear bi-focals. Took my 92 carbine out to try out the new sights, and I cannot see them! A Lyman bead up from, the Marbles Bullseye on the back.. both are so fuzzy I can't use them. Like looking at a spider web up close thin and fuzzy!! When I drop down to the lower lens, sights are raz...
