I have a yearning for a Uberti Burgess but here in the UK they are only available in .45 Colt and I have never thought much of that as a black powder rifle cartridge and I don't have anything chambered in it.
Yesterday a friend called and said that he was giving up shooting for health reasons and wanted to give me some "stuff".
Here's what I collected today
400 rounds of loaded .45 Colt, hundreds of Winchester and Remington .45Colt brass, a Dillon 450 set up for .45 Colt.
Something is telling me it's time to give .45 Colt a fair trial.
Orderd the Burgess today.
Man, you fell in to a treasure trove there! The .45 never was an old-time rifle cartrdge, mainly dues to the fact that the old cases had mighty small rims, I think. But new brass is not similarly afflicted, and it makes a great rifle/carbine round today, especially for a handloader.
Welcome to the world of the......Miniature 45-70...... a neat lever gun cartridge once you are properly introduced.
Have fun!
