I've done it too. I recommend the Wheeler barrel vice and yes, do use rosin. I also recommend applying some kroil the night before and letting the barrel threads soak in that before removing. When I did my Win 94 project, I was cutting the AI chamber, so I simply removed a tad bit more until the hea...

Mine are both big bore models - 45-70 and 500 S&W. Both shoot about 1.5" at 100 yards for three shots - but as said, the triggers aren't the best. The 45-70's is OK but the 500's needs some work.
These are probably the best value going for the price.

I'll throw in the opinion that you should go with .356 Winchester with .358" bore. It'll shoot any of those .357" jacketed bullets just fine and gives you much more top end for hunting.
I did that with a 336 but it was already a 35 Remington.

I am sure I read about this. IIRC, these are most probably "green ammo" rounds. I'm thinking CCI. Compressed/scintered metal bullets that disintegrate on contact with anything firm. Regardless, I would discard those and use only the ones with standard flash holes. If for no other reason th...

Best place to get a replacement 20 guage Wingmaster barrel?
I've been looking for a replacement barrel for my nice old 20 guage Wingmaster. This is one with an "X" at the ending of the serial number. I want a 26 or 28" gloss finish ribbed barrel with screw-in choke or I'd be happy with a modified choke barrel. Mine has a full choke barrel - no...

I'd personally go with 12 guage. The ammo is actually cheaper and there are more aftermarket parts for the 12. They are AKM's and very rugged and reliable. Very easy to convert to a pistol grip configuration with basic workshope tools as well. If you're interested: http://vimeo.com/2787027 and http:...

The .357 Mag is a whole nuther story, though, I would limit the distance with a hangun - levergun with a good bullet that will hold together is a good round for deer.
