Oh, OK. Yeah, that's what they're for - to hold the wall up for sure. And yeah, probably due to the amount of rain we get there. The soil is sandy too...

The whole thing went well - Cornyn gave a short but really pretty good speach and was not at all self-indulged. I think he's OK. I didn't know he'd had the background that he did - District Judge, sat on the TX Supreme Court, etc... Interesting to see the different kinds of kids that are appointed.....

Just figure out the right sizes and order you some Marble sights - you'll love em. I like the 1/32 brass bead on the front blade myself. Semi-buckhorn for the rear.

My Miroku 95's rear sight is just fine. Something just needs to be tightened up it sounds like. If all else fails, get a new front and rear sight combo = Marbles makes fine sights. Sore shoulder -thanks - we thought they did a great job too. What do you mean by "keyed in"? They poured the wall/retaining buttresses first (used wood panels and metal tab things that fit through the wall to give a consistent thickness), then poured the slab inside of it after the plumber...

They are really great for the inside rooms and will save a lot of electricity $$ over the years. Those rooms are like caves.

These are really high-tech, new and improved skylights. Somebody really did a good job designing them.

I highly recommend loading gas check 200 grain .314" cast bullets (Lyman mold) to around 1850 fps or so - they are accurate, shoot a bit lowwer too - allowing you to adjust the sights to near point of impact at 100 yards :)

The answer is found in your chronograph. Every handloader should own one IMHO. You stary low and then watch your velocity readings - against published data. Velocity is THE best pressure indicator. Yes, longer barrels will give a little more velocity at the same pressure, so you have to take that in...

Congratulations. Having dealt with a large number of USAFA cadets though....... keep an eye on his attitude. Around his second year, he may need a smack in the head. Quite a few 3rd/4th year guys, not all wannabe pilot types, get a real superiority complex. We generally had to fix that little issue...

My yougest just heard from the Airforce Acsademy and has accepted enrollment :). He flies to Colorado Springs next month for basic training prior to starting his first year. He was rejected on the initial selection and placed on a waiting list. Very disheartening for him but he handled it like a man...

The real danger here is that they imply that you can put factory rounds into a 410 and it won't blow... they had to "overload" it to get it to "pop". :shock: :? :o :(

Yes, they are great working guns and you can load pointy bullets in em.

Of course, you have to be happy with iron sights :)

I have one of the new production repro Lyman aperture sights on my 30 US. I like it a lot. Pacific Tool IIRC.

I've got two - one original production Winchester from just after the turn of the century - 30 US - was refinished and had the barrel shortened and had a frosted bore when I got it, but I firelapped it and it now shoots just fine though it will foul up pretty quick - absolutely loves .310" cast...
