@Pokey Thanks for the website. Finding sources for graver materials seems harder than it should be on google, so that helps a lot. @Kimwcook Hate to burst your bubble, I didn't forge it. Engraving! Close; no cigars yet.

Alright, with my last two etched blades sold I'm trying my hand at true engravings using the same dremel tool from before . I've got the basic form down, but as you can see, I've got a long way to go before I can approach professional smoothness in the design, let alone my lever gun (thus the leverg...

Since I don't have calipers or anything that measures in 1000ths of an inch (sad, I know), which one would a Rossi 92 in .45 Colt be? Any ideas?

Buy used. I just sold a 2002 Stainless 336 for about $540. I imagine a normal blued is considerably less at the pawn or somewhere.

But yeah, I'll take any slack I can get. Feel free to disregard this overly obvious topic then. The take on the 'ZOMG hunting for profit (and by extension raising food for profit, apparently) is bad' just annoyed the stuff out of me.

Now I will admit to having a pistol grip mossy for HD purposes a few years back and for close quarters you frankly couldn't get any better IMO. BTW, even the Rossi is only marginally adequate to handle the .454, and a steady diet of anything approaching full loads (62,000 - 65,000 psi chamber pressure) will take a quick toll on the little '92. Not to put words in his mouth, but PK seems to disagree on this point. To quote : A little over f...

You'll be hard pressed to find a better close quarters 'carbine' than an SU16c. Here's my old one. It reaches maybe up to my thigh and I'm about 5'8". 30 rnds on tap, though i'd hesitate to unleash .223/5.56 indoors without hearing protection. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/ii110/ozzallos/I...

Now that takedown is just darn sexy. My only worry would be compromising the integrity of the rifle to fire .454 hammers. I had my dearly departed Mossy 500 Cruiser outfitted with Knoxx recoil reducing stock, which helped take the bite off slugs.
