We had the same thing happen to one of our drivers about 5 years ago, only his turkey came ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

I honestly don't know... but do know that 70mph on US83 in South Texas will get them in the cab with you! One of our drivers was attacked after it the bird landed in the passenger seat... woke up after coming thru the windshield... he thought it was dead; stopped on the shoulder, walked around and opened the passenger door, only to have the thing come after him with it's spurs. Cut 'im up some...

I had a hawk hit the windshield on my truck... only trouble was his wing went under the sun visor and his body went over the top! You might also need to know that blood smears pretty badly when you try to get it off with just windshield wipers... takes a LOT of washer fluid!

Hit a pheasant while I was doing 45mph, in my Wrangler, one morning. Entire windshield fractured in small pieces, but it held together. You could see the outline of the bird on the windshield

My grandfather had a buzzard come through the windshield on him, but that was back when they didnt have safety glass. That buzzard puked all over him and in the car. He never could get the stink out of the car and sold it. My grandmother was tempted to do the same with him I am sure!

Long ago, while going to work one morning at a bout 5:30A(and late as usual), I was running 75 or better. A small flock of pheasants flushed by the road. One was slower than the others(Darwin in action). He hit the windshield of the little Brit roadster i was driving and blew about 30 feet in the air. The windshield was covered with plasma, not blood and the cockpit got well feathered. Id guess the raked angle of the windshield kept him from breaking it, thank goodness. and the fact he was a young bird.
