I’ve handled an Ithaca 49 lever single shot. I thought it was pretty junky and poorly made. This particular gun was priced at ~$80 and didn’t ever move.
I own an Ithaca 72 “Saddlegun” and it is very nicely made in West Germany.

Re: Cleanest burning powder for rifle/pistol cartridges
I never worried about whether or not a powder is “dirty” so long as it works the way I want. I recently stumbled onto a Desert Eagle in .357mag for too good of price to pass up. Since the DE is a gas operated and has no practical means available to clean the gas port, you need to use a powder that w...

I load the OT “laser cast” almost exclusively and have never had a problem with lead in all but one of my guns. That rifle also fouls copper and the bore is rough straight from the factory. I've always had good luck with CDNN. The last gun I bought, a Winchester "Miroku" short-rifle in .44 magnum was flawless and beautiful. I just bought a bunch of Desert Eagle mags and they were all new in factory packaging. However, I did order a compact flashlight that was advertised to ta...

I got lucky and found an older Rossi 92 SRC in .357 (with no safety) that is in like-new condition for only $250 – so I bagged it. It fed .357 fine but .38’s (which I mostly shoot) required a rather deliberate cycling of the action to feed properly. I tore it apart and did all of the tricks in the “...

My Marlin 1895 SBL sort of qualifies for a “combat lever gun”. It’s got the 1913 rail and XS ghost sights that are easy to pick up fast. The sling is adjusted for carry and as a shooting aid.
