Wing Suits

Post by getitdone1 »

A friend introduced me to guys jumping off of cliffs wearing Wing Suits. Takes lots of sky diving experience before you're ready for this--plus training.

Some amazing videos of this on YouTube.

Watch some of these videos and expect you'll be like me and wonder how they can have the courage to do it! Of course the answer is 'you work up to it' gradually.

You have to watch a few to find those with the best video quality. I read they fly at between 100-140 mph and the record speed with Wing Suit over 200 mph. Standing at a lower level and having one of these guys come buzzing over your head would be a little unreal.

Mr. Rossy takes the wing suit concept to the next level
in the following video. The launch is a real leap of

I don't know, I think if we arm these guys with Mossberg tactical levers, we'll solve two problems at once.

And I thought you meant the old style men's suit coats with the really large lapels....

I've now watched several of these wing suit flights and the ones with excellent photography help make it more real and you get a 'touch' of what the flier is experiencing. I wonder, after about 10 years of this, how many of these guys are still around?

And, what about those guys who jump off backwards as though they were jumping into their backyard pool?

stretch, your video was outstanding.

Aussie is head first, right? Regular rappelling down the Sabaluski Air Assault School Tower (shameless plug/brag  ) was spooky enough for me but we had a couple of guys who just HAD to do it that way so they could say they had done it.

Dang, I coulda used something like that forty years ago when I left the helo about twenty feet AGL. It might not have softened the impact, but I sure woulda looked good hitting the ground.

Yep, Cheju-do was the site for "adventure" training, R&R, whatever they called it over the years. Personally, I hate heights but love mountains. Go figger. Rappelling isn't so bad, there's worse, like fast-roping. Let's face it, there are some things you do because you have to. Some guys were deathly afraid of the combat water survival test and my biggest problem was stepping off the 3 meter board, because of the height. I was relieved to be in the water! I hated the rope bridges but volunteered to swim the rivers to take the rope over to the other side. Everyone has a different fear. Joe is about right as far as I'm concerned, more firma and less terra!
Sincerely,

Hobie
