Only clean the bore at the end of the shooting season for me, sometimes not then. Do protect the metal. Never have any leading in the rifles or revolvers. Just get the loose stuff out, leave the conditioning. For Jacketed bullet only guns, different story.

I use Lyman dies for my 32-20 loading. I use the M die to expand the case mouth for bullet seating. No problems

Buck - the back of my fingers have a very thin layer of flesh & nerves then bone. If I cycle the lever rapidly on any of my several lever actions the back of my fingers will be sore very quickly.

Handirifle - the 45 Colt uses a .452 diameter bullet, not .429

True the temp in US wasn't like Korea but all the LC52 ammo I fired over the years penetrated fine.

I would say the primers stick out because of low pressure in the round. IOW, not enough pressure to push the case back against the bolt face to push the primer back into the primer pocket.

My best LA load is my cast RCBS 45-255 (SWC) @ 268 gr with a bunch of Bluedot in RP brass and CCI LP primers. Start around 12 gr and work up to your gun's preference.

If I had to have only one pistol powder, it would be Win 231. Works fine in every pistol round I load, 25ACP to 45 Colt. Others may work also, but 231 is my choice based on my long term experience.

Got a 10mm long time ago and first shot blew the x out of the X ring @ 25 yds with the Hornady 170's @ top speed. I like Blue Dot, AA9, AA7 and for light loads, 231. Presently using 180 cast TC and 180 Hornady FMJ. Great round. :D

I want to add my Welcome ! to the comments. Others have given good opinions. I like the 45 Colt in a Marlin, but I reload and ammo choice is not a problem. If you have to buy factory, 44 Mag might be better choice for hunting.
