Would love the rifle and wood but would opt for no engraving.

Yup, that's about what it would take for me to buy a Marlin.

:P

Not that Marlins aren't sound or decent guns, the style and craftmanship just doesn't come close. Then again, they are cheaper.

And I'll second the NO vote for laser engraving.
There's no art in setting up a CAD prgram to zap a design onto your reciever...
All they have to do is scan my photo of Moe Howard and then zap it onto my gun.

Haha, that would be rich... the Moe gun.

Compared to what? Where I'm at a Winchester always costed more & craftsmanship wise they were about equal.
Unless we're talking Miroku Winchesters but thats not apples & apples.

Anyway, when I first saw this promotion I was interested. But I'm not anymore. Too much on my plate as it is.

I don't now, Marlins always just sort of looked chintzy to me.
Maybe it's the reciever, maybe it's the wood.

Look, It's just an opinion.

I like the style of the Winchesters better is all.
Didn't mean to offend.

As a levergun fan that is a nice deal. Too rich for my blood but interesting none the less.

Winner will personally accompany receiver and wood to Baron Engraving for laser engraving work

- Note: limited laser work only. Winner will work in advance with Baron Engraving to select cameo artwork to be laser etched on to each side of the receiver and stock (you may elect no engraving on receiver or stock). Winner must provide signature artwork in advance if laser signature is requested. Receiver laser work only valid if a stainless steel receiver is selected. Stock laser work limited to walnut only. Custom SN must begin with 2 alpha (initials) and 8 numeric (birth date, for example)
The engraving is optional.

Any rifle in the 2008 catalog :P :P :P :) :D :D :D

Come on wifie, by the right lottery ticket.

If I had the wherewithal I do this in a heart beat.

Joe

No biggie, I was not offended, just curious. It was the cheaper thing more than the rest got me to comment. I never found the Marlins to be consistantly less, unless we are talking older guns.

First off, it's not really engraving, and it's only available if you get the stainless steel version.
Second it's sort of a custom, but you can only pick from guns in the catalog, so no special alibers, or barrel configurations. I'd love one with a long octagon or half octagon in .38-55!
It is going to a great cause, so I wish them lots of luck, and hope they get a big price for this!

Personally, I'm feeling a 45-70 XLR stainless with some nice walnut and a bugling elk on a mountain side on one side and a bull moose standing in a pond on the other. Now getting the fiance to come off with some $$$ to do this.

Oh yeah drool factor just went up.
