In my 44 special I like 255 grain lead on top of 6.5-7.5 grains of Unique( I think) from a 6.5 inch barreled pistol and in my 45 auto I like 230 hp or solid can't remember the powder charge but they fly at about 830 fps

If you are going to be shooting a lot I would tend towards the Ruger but if you are going to be shooting only a 1000 rounds or less a year either will work.

old savage I like lead but you have to pay attention to what you are shooting with them and what range and what caliber. Now jacketed will help some but no bullet is a do all one size fits all.
