Re: How to improve accuracy in a BLR?

Agree and disagree. My 307 shoots .63 & .65 with 130's and 150's. Barrelband and/or too much tension on the end screw on the tube can affect accuracy. I have seen that putting pressure at different points on the tube can affect accuracy. I think it was Paco that wrote about putting a plastic was...

Re: How to improve accuracy in a BLR?

Good deal!!! I need to try this gun out at 100 yards. One thing I thought of is how I laid the gun on a rest could have put pressure on the barrel. Need to try resting the magazine on the rest instead of the forearms.

How to improve accuracy in a BLR?

I traded into a BLR in 7mm-08 a couple weeks ago. I took and shot it and got 1 inch groups at 25 yards. I didnt get to shoot further than that so I'm not sure what it will do at longer distances, yet. One thing I did find was that the more the barrel heats up the more the varnish melts and makes a m...

Re: 1895 Marlin 444 question.

Understand that it maybe difficult to go from 444 to 45/70. I was hoping for a barrel and bolt switch and be done. I think I will just leave it a 444. I mainly shoot the 325gr Leverevolutions out of my 45/70. Getting excited bout getting it now!.

1895 Marlin 444 question.

Got a chance to get an 1895 Marlin 444. I have zero experience with this caliber but do own and shoot a 1895G in 45/70. I've always heard that the 444 has sharp recoil compared to the 45/70, can anyone give thoughts on this. Also, can the 444 be turned into a 45/70?

Re: Why didn't the '95 sell better?

As far as the '95 I have always wanted one. The carbine fits me well.

As far as the 307, I agree that it fills the gap between the 30 WCF and the bigger calibers. I can push a 130grfn at 2950fps. I dont reload my 30 WCF's but I dont think they can get close to that. Maybe the 30/30AI.
