hfcable: There is a barrel-regulating jackscrew that adjusts the right barrel. It's located forward of the front swivel under the rib. Thanks guys. OSOK, I have tried Speer, Hornady and Sierra 87-grain bullets, but not necessarily with those powders. I will give those powders a try.

Accurate load for Savage 99 in .250-3000?

I have a nice old 99 with the 1:14 twist barrel, and am having a hard time getting under 2 inches at 100 yards with handloads and bullets of 100 grains or less. Anyone else shooting this rifle with this twist getting better accuracy? Bore and crown are perfect.

I think he is right about asking the EPA to back off on the ethanol requirement. Feed prices are killing livestock producers and hammering the consumer.

Ben: I use IMR 3031 under my .379 220-grain softpoints, but load only to about 1900. A friend uses the same bullet and gets to 2300 using RE7 in an H&R Target Classic single, but it may well be stronger than an older lever gun.

Bigbore: There's ALWAYS room in this old world for one more bullet lube. I agree that a small, round tin would be fine for muzzleloading -- just like the tins Dixie sells their Old Zip in. I like my SPG in the hollow sticks for the lubrisizer, though.
