Re: Which Lever Gun Do You LIKE the best ...
Streetstar, were you passing through Indiana on I-70 when your motorhome caught fire? Too bad about the rifles. No , that one wasn't me -- i was parked in South Texas when i had a thermostat malfunction on an unexpectedly cold night  Scary stuff ----- Check the dent in the magazine tub...

Re: Which Lever Gun Do You LIKE the best ...
I have already replied once in this thread, but i figured i'd add some pics --- my Dad's .30-.30 (i inherited after his passing) is my fave by default, even if it has the dreaded receiver safety - oh well. I also mentioned my Henry .22, as it gets more rounds through it than anything in my possesion...

Re: Way OT---My celebration of the new President!!
In honor of the new administration, i have been buying as many boxes of Remington UMC 223 from Wally as i can afford (8.47 a box is about what the imported stuff costs) --- i even picked up a few boxes of 30-30, however i have enough 30-30 brass to last a lifetime now Also joining the NRA in 5 minutes

Re: OT - anybody have a 20 rd 308 mag?
So Sanford is safe in the event of a Red Dawn scenario ? Cool. Do you know LArry the Cable Guy ? ?? I guess I'm a little slow today. I meant the insinuation that MCNutjob may be a closet Stoner fanatic ----- oh, and my favorite comic also allegedly lives in Sanford . I guess i may have gotten...

[4) Satisfaction of rolling your own. If you already think it will be "tedious," then perhaps you really don't want to shell out a lot of money, at first. Better start real small until you are sure you will be happy with this pursuit. ! John, thanks for the thorough response and advice. I...

Re: Eventually I would like to get ---
Too many to list, For now i'll list the Beretta .45 LC single action with 3.5 bbl and birds head grips (i like the case colors better than the Italian guns and i like the wide smooth trigger better than the traditional SAA type trigger) Followed closely by one of Roy Weatherby's rifles in 300 Wby ma...

Re: What if ALL your guns had to be from ONE manufacturer?
I'll throw another one in for Ruger, easy pick -- great variety. Although i could probably live the rest of my days with a Winchester Model 50 Auto shotgun, a model 94 30-30 and a 9422 -- it would not be as much fun. The only MArlin scattergun choices are those weird bolt action jobs they made decad...

Re: Which Lever Gun Do You LIKE the best ...
Can i throw in a curveball and say its my Henry lever action .22 (base price, base model from Academy Sports) ? Its the one i shoot the absolute most of any firearm i have -- .22 Short capability keeps me from giving the neighbors a rise and keeps the crows away. I love the thing A virtual tie would...

Re: OT - Pistols
your Ruger 22/45 was designed with a grip profile that roughly mimics a 1911's grip profile --- if that one is comfortable in the hand -- the 1911 should be too. Kimber has a nice catalog of 1911 stuff in prices from mild to wild Or you could skip all the auto stuff and get the S&W Performance C...

underappreciated ------- hmmmmmm the 30-30 is def. on that list, followed by the almost forgotten .300 H&H Mag (the father of many of the .300 series belted magnums today underappreciated pistol cartridges would be the .44 Special and 10mm -- if people knew how effective they really were in thei...

I too am seriously contemplating a new autoloader purchase. My state's CCW class states that to carry an auto, you must take the course with an auto. I really want to use an EAA Thunderer or a Bird's head grip Beretta Stampede, but dont want to limit my future options. Have my heart set on the recen...

Guncase, that is a similar setup to what i had in mind. Looks like a nice place to tune in and tune out. One general question i had for anyone is this. I previously stated wanting a small batch of "social ammunition" . An online vendor is advertising primed and formed Lake City brass (1000...

Since its wintertime, they are all trying to get into stuff around my house --- as the pictures attest, the dog is arguably more mischievous than the cats though --- thankfully there is nothing in the toilet for the orange cat to put his paw into tho http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb285/streetst...

Re: Joined the reloading fray
Thanks for the input guys, I am patiently awaiting the arrival of the big brown truck. I had to mail order, as all the shops and outdoor emporiums in my area look like ghost towns in the ammunition and reloading sections currently. Gives me plenty of time to mull over workbench design and placement....

Not an earth shattering declaration i know, but i just bit the bullet and ordered an RCBS Master Rockchucker kit. After telling myself for years i wanted to expand my hobby, i finally did. Next up is a brass tumbler and a Dillon digital scale. Regretfully, with the current political/economic environ...

Re: Okay.....LEAST favorite cartridge
I will use the ,30 cal designation as my victim, but the same applies to 7mm and 338 as well. What does a .30-378 WBY or a .300 RUM (or any number of "hot as Bo Derek" .300 mags like the Lazzeroni and Dakota cartridges) do that can't be done with a .300 WBY Mag or even a .300 Norma or H&am...

well, this is a levergun forum, so i will tow the line and diplomatically say a Model '94 in 30 WCF or a '95 in 30-06. But an '03 Springfield would be tempting as well

an affordable trapper style .45 LC "plinker" would be nice, --- doesn't have to rival a Cooper falling block in fit/finish for me for that purpose, but it would be nice if it would go more than a few boxes without "warranty issues"

I love that song. Although i know it as a remake from the current era rockabilly artist, Mike Ness.
His version of Big Iron i could not find on Youtube (imagine that), but here is a version of Wildwood Flower that is pretty neat
