OT: Cats in house
How do you guys handle your better half's cat/s? They get it into everything. I have cabin fever really bad, on top of dealing with this hyper, nosey critter and all the hair it leaves behind. Havent hurt it on purpose yet, but it sure is tempting too, especially accidentally in the dark!!
Yep he's my bud, he sleeps at my feet, follow me into bathroom, why they like to watch you while mark your spot is beyond me. I even set up boxes so he could lay down and look out windows. Have tried talking GF into getting a mate for him, even came close to just dropping one off b4 i went on road. This is the 10-11th cat i been involved with. He gets more attention than my levers from me!!!!!!!

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: OT: Cats in house
You make friends with the little bugger. Either that or you get a new better half.
Cats are nice critters. They are no worse than a small dog. Except they do what they darn well please, not what you want them to do.
Live with 'em.

The key to dealing with hyper, noisy cats, just as it is with dogs or kids, is to play with them.
Find what it likes to do then tire it out.

I just live with it, up in the mountains a cat is a useful critter to have about, keeps the local pests under control.
Re: OT: Cats in house
Our cat is a chew toy with a pulse for our labrador so he is always tired. If the cat is nosey it is because it is a bored cat find something for it to do and be entertained and you will enjoy the cat more.

I don't have a "better half", I just have a cat. She's crazy, too. However, she hasn't done anything to deserve capital punishment. She's probably wondering what she did to get sentenced to life in my house....

Re: OT: Cats in house
Since it got cold the indoor/ outdoor cats seem to be indoors more. The only problem I have with them is that they wake me up in the middle of the night with some rucus. Also I know they are up to no good and trying how to figure how to take over the house.

Re: OT: Cats in house
Since its wintertime, they are all trying to get into stuff around my house --- as the pictures attest, the dog is arguably more mischievous than the cats though --- thankfully there is nothing in the toilet for the orange cat to put his paw into tho

Re: OT: Cats in house
My wife likes cats. I built for them their own house. It is elevated, with stairs going up to the entrance. The house is heated in Winter, and it is in the shade in Summer. They get to run around outside all they want, play in the woods, and have a good time. No animal should be sentenced to live inside. They are meant to be outside. They were not meant to live indoors and stuff into and around a box full of clay particles.

I have a small flashlight with a laser pointer in it. I can't begin to tell you just how right Tycer is. Exhausted several sets of batteries entertaining our felines.Tycer wrote:Those little laser pointers wil plumb wear a cat out.

Our cat can be napping, but if she hears the chain on the laser pointer jingle, she's ready to play in an instant. She can claw the snot out of the rug trying to chase that thing down. And the rug is none the worse for wear, either.Tycer wrote:Those little laser pointers wil plumb wear a cat out.

When my wife was going through a particularly trying period in her master's work, and she wasn't around a whole lot, that cat helped me keep my sanity.

Did you say you wanted some more cats? Anybody?
Seriously, if she's your better half, you'd better get used to the cats.

3leggedturtle, cats are great to have around - once you get to know them and can read them you'll like them a lot. Just don't let 'em know what your username is here.

Re: OT: Cats in house
Our cat is named 'Pickles' and is the owner of the house, but he lets us live here as long as we feed him and clean his litter box. He likes to party around the house at night so before we go to bed, he is ejected into the garage. That way we can sleep in peace and he can keep the garage mouse-free. In spring, summer and fall he is strictly an outdoors cat and does not come into the house.

Re: OT: Cats in house
I've had all kinds of pets throughout my life, but I have a special bound with cats. Even the current one that just beat the snot out of me! http://www.levergunscommunity.com/viewt ... &sk=t&sd=a Something about sharing a home with a miniature tiger, never quite fully domesticated, is just cool.
Re: OT: Cats in house
I like cats ok, but I just can't get on board with an animal using my home for a toilet. I shoveled enough of that stuff on the farm growing up, I ain't cleaning it up in my own house.

Re: OT: Cats in house
Around here they make GREAT bait for coyotes!!! I have little use for cats or dogs anymore. Tired of hair everywhere it's not supposed to be, poop where it's not supposed to be, and never liked getting licked in the face.

Re: OT: Cats in house
Speaking of such, does anyone know if foxes bury theirs like cats do? I have a red fox that spends his days snoozing in my back yard, but there are also cats that come through and I keep finding some small quadruped's "deposits" in the dirt around my house. I can't even guess if it's all cat or fox or both.handirifle wrote:...poop where it's not supposed to be...

I don't know about Colorado Foxes but the Red Fox over here likes to leave his poop where every one can see it. They will pick a feature of the landscape that stands out (tree stump, Mole hill etc.) and dump on top of it! Their scat is nearly always pointed at one end too.JustaJeepGuy wrote:Speaking of such, does anyone know if foxes bury theirs like cats do?
