I've seen the T.R. quote as "Lion medicine" and "big medicine" and "medicine gun". Does anyone know what was the EXACT phrase T.R. used?

I'm not sure but when I read the book "Theodore Rex" about TR the author said that after his presidency TR was a prolific writer. There should be some of his writings on the net somewhere that would have the exact quote.

Thank you for that quote. I wouldn't have known where to start searching.

On another note, T.R. was the most prolific author of America's Presidents. For a guy who died at the age of 60 and wrote something like 42 books, I'd have to say nobody else came close.

Since we are talking 1895's, I thought you fellas might like these photos from my archives. They are of my friend Rolf E. Iversen, 6'10" country lawyer. He just passed away on the last day of May in '08 after a 12 year battle with cancer. I think he would be smiling right now seeing this posted here. He read this forum quite frequently, but never posted. He went to Africa in 1980 and had a great time. I have many more pictures of his trip. I will have to get them on photobucket so I can share.

As I read it, he took three Wincchester 95s in 405 and one in 30-06 and proclaimed the Winchester 95 was his favorite rifle.
I'm glad to produce pictures for this thread of my 30-06.

Well, my thoughts are that, if you have a good wife, you owe it to her to give her all the help you can in whatever way she needs it. It pays off in the long run.

Actually, she reciprocated that "help" by helping me pick out what I could give her then - this little ring, if you can imagine that.



Would you believe she is convinced she got the best of the deal?? All she can do is enjoy its company and show it off to her friends. I can do those things with my '95 AND SHOOT IT.

Ok, if you insist It's in .405, too. I don't think there is anything I would not tackle with this shooter. The smooth, metal buttplate has got to go though. Too slippery!

Since we are showing pics, here is one with two .405s - a " TD shooter and a Deluxe looker". Santa gave me two boxes of TR Win .405 commerative ammo and when I get out the camera out again m pics will follow.

Fellas, ya'll are not helping my addiction with those pictures. I picked up my first 95 a few months ago and it has become my favorite very quickly. I am corresponding with a few board members on some 30-06's for future consideration and I absolutely want a 405.
