I would make my first lever gun a Marlin 336 in the classic 30-30 caliber. Possibly the stainless version. It is a high quality firearm that will out last you, and everyone on this forum. And the 30-30 will kill much better that a 357 at farther ranges. You cant go wrong with a Marlin. :D Thanks 38...

Another vote for Richard Lee's excellent book. also get ABCs of reloading ,and a one book /one caliber book for what you're gonna reload. Remember you can never have too many reloading books!!!
