Re: Values
I was just trying to see if I needed to leave original of modify. Thinking of adding a tang sight or if I can find a Redfield peep adding that. I don't see the value being affected much doing this. The value is more for the family since I now longer get rid of shooters. Regretted every one I sold......

Re: PRICE CHECK - circa 1955 Model 94
Been in the books all weekend and am really getting tired of it. :( Looking forward to next weekend, going to the farm and trying out this rifle. Hope it does as good as my 94XTR. If it does, what should I do with the other 4 30-30s? I tell you life can get real complicated... My son was rubbing in ...

Re: PRICE CHECK - circa 1955 Model 94
I bought it today for $325. Running the serial# said it was 1955. The comb is straight. The checkered steel but is curved about 3/16". The numbers and winchester stamps are all chrisp as new. The wood is dark but is matched and the finish is cracked like my old A-5 Browning. I do not think it h...

PRICE CHECK - circa 1955 Model 94
Found a pre-64 model 94 Winchester 30WCF in a pawn shop. I doesn't show much wear, none to the blueing and no dings in the wood. The action is still tight like it hasn't been used much. No rust or scratches. Finish on the wood is age cracked but intact. Bore is clean. What range would a gun like thi...

It's a good thing you weren't shooting a 3030 , cause we all know it won't take a deer.

Re: OT-Tried duck and goose hunting for the first time
I think any opportunity to be in the woods is great. I personally prefer duck hunting to any other. If I'm on the deerstand in the evening and ducks start coming in, I just can't resist. I'll climb down and check them out everytime. I guess we are blessed with plenty of game and are very fortunate t...

Re: What are you going to deer hunt with?
I'll probably stick with the 30wcf. I'll mostly use a Winchester model 94 with a Redfield peep. Or I could use a 94AE legacy with williams foolproof and firesite. Or a Marlin model 36 with buckhorn site. Or maybe a Marlin 336 with a Leupold 2 power fixed scope.
I do like a good 3030.

Just reporting in on the mushroom. Two years and no more problems with the failure. Still have the round that didn't fire. Fluke? You bet. Am enjoying the woods and anticipating a great season.

anyone hunting this season?
Is deer season in elsewhere? I don't see the posts. Had a quick start Saturday. Had to wait till 7:15 to get enought light to make out the front bead. Watched a small buck for about 3 minutes before I could see the bead. First shot of the morning in the national forest. Good thing too. Started raini...

Russell Moccassins. Socks are optional. I don't know how long they will last. My first pair is only 12 years old and is still my "go to" yard boot. Just got a new pair and quality is still there. You can order them in odd sizes, 11 narrow on one foot and 12 wide on the other. You an have t...

Do you reckon that's why they liked double guns with dangerous game? For the unexpected? Temperature was cool for my area, around 50 degrees c. I'm in Georgia. I don't think temperature was a factor this time. I did drop the hammer twice. He just had a get out of jail free card, karma for all you on...

Marlin jamb is real.
I just replaced the stock on my son's very accurate model 94 in 44 mag. Looks like new except for the boggered lever screw. Screw got damaged when we removed the lever to clear a jamb. We went hunting day before yesterday and when loading up for the evening, I unloaded or attempted to unload the gun...

Deadliest mushroom in the woods
4:49 pm and I've been on the stand for an hour and a half. I hear a noise to the right and I look over my shoulder. He's coming through the heavy brush of the woods. I can see him out about 70 yards through the thick growth in the swamp. I can't tell the number of points but it's a high rack. I wait...
