and one down for me.

Got this big doe with the .243win at 150ish yards. quartering toward, bullet entered right front shoulder and did a TON of damage, I think it's lodged somewhere near the back hip. Those 85grn sierra hpbts are for real.

Nice going, good eating size. Let us know if you find the bullet.

haven't found bullet yet, but it may be in one of the back roasts I removed, will check tonight. If not, no idea where it went, damage to front shoulder was extensive, took out a softball sized chunk of tissue, heart and lungs damaged. .243 is enough gun.

Nice job Will!!

It's funny, I always thought the .243 was kind of a joke but since I've seen what you've been doing with that
rifle of yours I don't think so any more! :D

I've never understood why the .243 wasn't seen as a legitamate deer gun. It's super accurate and lethal as far as you can hit on at least deer/hog sized game. Add to that it can do a number on yotes, and I just think it's one of the most versatile rounds available. The 250savage is right there with it, but the 308 case/bolt size gives the .243 the advantage imho.

I have a good friend that has a 6mm Remington Rifle. He swears by this as the ultimate deer slayer.
6mm and .243 are almost identical rounds. Good for you Nice deer. :D

Dang, that is a big ol' doe! I also am a big fan of the .243 for deer.

Nice size doe. I am a fan of the .243 as well,The .243 was my first deer rifle that I used to take my first deer,a large doe at 175yds. The rifle was my dad's that he bought at western auto in the late 60's before he went to vietnam. He then gave it to me when I turned 18...

I kinda went backward. My dad had a .300 Win Mag, and I wanted to be like him, so my first bolt action was a .300 Win Mag. Bought it when I was 13. I've always been big for my size and I could handle it. Killed my first deer with it. As I got a little older I decided I didn't like big heavy guns, so I downsized to .243 for deer and never looked back.

It's a good thing you weren't shooting a 3030 , cause we all know it won't take a deer.
Congrats
