Re: price check 1894 Marlin
Don't know if this helps but I just paid 497 before tax for a new Marlin 1894, in 45 Colt, with safety, round 20" barrel, plain lower grade wood stock.

Not a bad price at all.

Offer 4 bills, but be prepared to pay the asking price, it's not bad.

The guy wanted $250.00 for my Marlin parts gun, made an offer, good amount less, he thought for a day; then took it.

Before you leave, give them your phone number and ask them to call you if they have a change of heart. Often they'll let you walk out, but if they can call you they may decide to take an offer.
