Re: Is The 32-20 as "Good" as the .357 For Deer Sized Animals?

I dunno about what the 357 would do, all I can say is on the 3 deer and 1 javelina so far, none survived... Shot placement whether I use a 22 or my 50 bmg is paramount... who would think a doe could run after a 50 bmg went through both lungs? Much less run 100 yards or so with NO blood traill..........

Been told the same thing a few times. Seems to work just fine, assuming some common sense is used. Even worked with puny cowboy loads I was warned to not use. Yotes around here can get rough on fawns every now and then. But we don't get snow so they are not much of a danger to deer in general. Funny how it can be different in other areas. I've probably gone through 200K rounds of 223 in ARs over the years in competition, DI all the way. If its clean you are worrying about, I can run a whole season of shooting 8-10K rounds with only wiping the upper out and cleaning the bolt carrier a few times.

The same thing, basically, the quick load on MZ barrels seems to hamper accuracy actually but its deeper than 1/4 inch. Personally I'd shoot it first, having seen M98s that looked bad, give close to an inch with the right ammo.

Beyond that, i'd nip and recrown instead of rebarreling for sure.
