Re: TrueShot by Oregon Trail Bullets
I have some super hard cast .459 dia 510-gr Elk Busters (caster is no longer alive) but I have experienced the very same thing after recovery. This showed me how brittle they can be getting chizzled down to a wad cutter look.

The load that I have been using with this bullet is 45.0 gr of IMR 3031 with good results. I know I've commented in other threads about seeking data for a 430-gr WFN GC cast bullet, but that is for something else more defensive. I was just going to order these thru MidwayUSA as they are $28.99 per 1...

Rimfire McNutjob In a local shop, they get the Remington 405-gr JSP in bulk buy's, and have them priced at $17.99 per 50 ct. I have bought these and they do work well and are very accurate out of my 1895G. My personal load is 45.0 gr of IMR 3031. I have really enjoyed the dialog here in this discuss...

Rimfire McNutjob but do you consider it top quality construction that you'd put to work on dangerous game? Any of the jacket stuff that Buffalo Bore is puting out is quality constructed jacketed bullets, and the hard cast bullets that he is using are of super quality construction as well. I do not l...

Here is a pic of differant .458 jacketed bullets. Notice bullet 3 and 4, bullet #3 being a 400-gr Speer JSP and bullet #4 a 405-gr Rem 405-gr. You will have to seat the Rem 405-gr above the hump with a firm but not hard crimp. You can get a Lee factory crimp die if you feel you need to. Your total O...

I don't use a 540-gr or 550-gr but have settled on a 430-gr WFN GC produced by a local Montana company that just flat out works for the reasons Jim stated in his write up. In big heavy game which could be dangerous game, you need the ability to have bone crushing results and shock power. I know of o...

Hey Griff
Your only answer might be to find "Bolt Caps" like they have here, and see if they can be gotten in Black Chrome.

You'll need a loading tray made for the big old honking rim of the 45/70. The 444 is slightly more economical IMO, because the components are smaller than the 45/70. i.e. less brass, copper and powder...... 45-70 loading tray you can find in the shotgun loading section - I use a 20 ga tray, a...

Pat Buchanan is one of the few in the media who has the gonads to tell it like it is, i.e., no political correctness here. My hope is that you are not offended. A Brief for Whitey by Patrick J. so you are saying the 444 has equal proformance at 50 yards as a 44 mag.i dont agree.on another topic if the 444 was designed after the 30-06 i wounder if they considered nameing it a 44-06? The 30-06 was created in 1906, and hence was named as .30 cal - 1906 the year = 30-06, and the .444 Marlin w...
