Glad you made it home, Jim! It's supposed to get up to a whopping 24 degrees today, then down to 2 degrees tonight. The roads are clear, but most of the snow on the ground is hanging around. Had to clear a spot just so the chickens would come out of the coop.

The only shooting I've done the last few days was the raccoon that got into my shed during the daytime. Can't have them that close to my chickens. Other than that, I haven't tried to walk down to my range. Might have to do that today.

My oldest son got very lucky. He and his wife were high school sweethearts. They've been together for nine years and married for the last two. But, I see a lot of younger guys who just don't want the drama that seems to accompany this generation of women (and many men, sadly.)

I've only got 2 .308 rifles in my safe anymore. A Remington 600 that I turned into a pseudo-Scout rifle, and a PTR-91, which is a copy of the HK 91. I got it to write an article and liked it so I bought it. I figured having a .30 caliber battle rifle on hand might be a good thing.

The Speer 130gr Hot Cor and Winchester 748 has worked good for me in my pre-'64 Model 94. I started using the 130gr bullet based on JimT writing about it.

In the novel "Black Light," author Stephen Hunter armed his protagonist, sniper Bob Lee Swagger, with a Mini 14. Hunter is a gun guy, so apparently he has an appreciation for the Mini 14. I'd say you're in good company!

Oh BTW, if you're looking for an all metal hi cap 9mm, the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Metal is outstanding. Steel slide, aluminum frame, optic ready, pretty much good to go right out of the box.

I use and carry a couple of different 9mm handguns, mainly because it's what most of my students use and it's the cheapest to shoot in competition. But my town has such a low crime rate that I'm pretty sure I can handle anything around here with a five or six shot revolver. Never have felt outgunned...
