bought a 1957 Winchester Model 94 30-30

Post by EdinCT »

Well, I had a moment of weakness today and saw this 30-30 used but not abused on the rack today. I looked at the price and it was 700.00 I thought I sold my first 30-30 for 80 bucks around 1975 and it wasn't a pre 64 so I guess the price was fair in my mind so I bought it. My wife said to buy yourself something when I went in and I did.
It is in Rhode Island which will hold it for a week because My CT pistol permit isn't valid there.
Lord willing I will pick it up next Wednesday and try to get pictures posted after that.

1957 was a good year for Winchester ´94's... at least, that's the year my Grandpa's rifle was built. My brothers and I are now the caretakers of the old levergun and I've taken more deer with it than Grandpa did. :) Enjoy that old piece of levergunning goodness. I run mine with a 170 gr JFP over a a snort of IMR powder. Need to find some more projectiles one of these days and load up another batch of ammo.

Can't beat them.

My first rifle is one made in 59. My dad bought it for me with his birthday money when I was in junior high. It looked new when I got it. It still looks pretty good considering all the miles I've carried it. I carried it this season matter of fact.

My 94 was made the year I was born, but it is not a .30WCF caliber. .32 WCF.

I gave my 32 Special to one of my sons, It was a fantastic cast bullet shooter and I really missed it, I ordered a Lee 170 FP mold and if this new rifle shows promise I will find a Lyman 311041.
I also bought a Williams 5d in case the opens aren't workable for me.
