My expander plug is .429, I use .428 sized bullets, never have any trouble. I've been using the same old Lyman dies for nearly 25 years.

Not much we can hunt with a rifle here in Illinois, would if I could. Did hit a crow once with my Browning 1886 SRC, a few feathers floated to the ground. Lots of starlings and a few groundhogs with 9422 or 30-30.

Picked up this OM Blackhawk couple days ago, 45 convertible, possibly unfired. I'm sure the ACP cylinder is unfired, the Colt cylinder has the faintest of rings, possibly only factory firing? I have had to have every cylinder throat reamed on every Blackhawk I've got, makes a world of difference. Always thought I was just a bad shot. Turns out I still am, just not as bad, lol. I'll be picking up an OM 45 Thursday, 7 1/2' barrel.

get yourself some TrailBoss powder, 4.5 grs under a cast 200 grn bullet is very accurate and easy on shooter and guns, and fills the case little over half.

This 1 lb bottle is a couple years old, price tag on it is $18.95. I just was wondering if just the labels have changes over the years and it's the same powder or if there was more than one 5744, kinda like IMR4227 and H4227.

I found a .45 ACP bullet in a log I was splitting from my back yard, in town. It was a good 8" deep and looked to have been there a long time.

I just bought an OM Blackhawk in .357 on Gunbroker for just under $500. Gun is Mint except for some scratches on trigger guard. I know that .41 mags will go for more than .357 because there were less made.

I'm waiting on a Lee Factory Crimp Die, should be here next week. This rifle has the larger "Uberti Chamber", from all I've read about it, one gets a few extra grains of BP in the case. I'm not much of a black powder shooter, but do have some APP in the powder room, so I'll give it a try. ...

I have 2 older Rossi's, both pre-safety. The older one is a 44-40 tac driver and is my main SASS shooter, have not had one single blip in the 15 plus years I've had it. A SRC that I cut the stock flat and added 1" pad, feels much better with that bit of LOP. I use .428 bullets with this rifle, ...

Looks like maybe the hammer may have been cut down a bit? I have read several times that alot of the 73's got the hammers cut down because they stuck out and caught on things, easy fix I guess.

I had one breifly back in the mid 80's. Never liked it, didnt trust it, always felt like the bolt was about to fly back and hit me in the face. Kept it about 2 weeks then got rid of it.
