Re: Not a bad day

Only an old Wyoming hand could see the logic of driving 75 miles for a burger and fries. This is a fact that east and west coast people can't understand, what with a town every 5-10 miles. Yesterday I made a 250 mile roundtrip to the V.A. hospital in Cheyenne and didn't think that was unusual. Great...

Re: OT - Browning Hi-Power thoughts -

I have an mismatched Inglis Hi-Power with tangent sight and slotted grip frame. It wasn't very reliable until I got a new Mec-Gar magazine and now it works just fine. You can't beat the feel of a Hi-Power in your hand but the safety is harder for me to use than a 1911. The trigger geometry is pretty...

Re: OT- I have serious moister problems

RIG (rust inhibiting grease) is just as good as it always has been. For long-term gun storage give the bores a liberal coating using a cotton bore mop. The exteriors can be coated with a RIG impregnated rag. RIG has the consistency of vaseline and is no problem to wipe off when you want to go shooti...

Re: OT.. Appaloosa cowboy movie

Doesn't anyone remember the original "Appaloosa" movie with Marlon Brando, Anjeanette Comer and John Saxon?

Re: Ot - Herters

I still have several Herter items bought in the early 60's. Some of these include a Model 21 fiberglas recurve, a back quiver, about 8 of the original dozen arrows, an open faced spinning reel and rod, fishing lures, and a hoard of 6.5X55 brass. Folks might be interested to know that Dennis Highby, ...

Re: Have you seen this picture?

This might be somewhat political but the picture reminds me of Obama's terrorist policies. If we just ignore the mountain lion or call it another name, maybe it will go away.

Re: What type of hat did Eastwood wear in Unforgiven?

I wouldn't know but you might check out Miller Hats.com. I have a campaign hat that it top quality! "You better bury Ned right. You better not cut up or harm no whores, or I'll come back and kill every one of you S.O.B.s." Great film and great music.

Re: 30-40 Krag

30-40 Krag ammo is still offered by Winchester. Same story with brass. Contact Graf and Sons and they will fix you up with either or both. Cabela's usually has the ammo in stock, too.

Re: 33 WCF questions

Just a couple of tips on reloading for the .33WCF. Model 86's are not rigid like front locking lug bolt guns. Cases will stretch just a bit and if you full-length resize every time, you will get case head separation and short case life. Make sure you trim cases when needed. Don't get carried away wi...

Re: FFL to FFL - WRONG ?

Good advice from Nate Kiowa Jones. In the 12 years I worked in the gun department of Cabela's, we always shipped from one FFL to another, long guns and handguns. Some FFL's try to gouge the customer on this. Look around and find someone in the $20-$25 range. And if "Too Tech" thinks it is ...

Re: 33 WCF bullet modifying

There is a pretty good article about tubular magazine detonation problems in the 2002 Gun Digest, by R.W. Ballou. I think you are plenty safe in your bullet modification and I wouldn't hesitate at all using them for hunting. I wonder if there would be a faster way to do the job with a jig holding ab...

Re: 348 Back in Stock

One more reason to reload for this great old cartridge. My advice is to stock up on brass and several boxes of Hornady 200 gr. jacketed bullets, but have your everyday fun with cast bullets. I acquired a Rapine 250 gr. mold several years back and am not too happy with how deep I have to seat the bul...
