Re: Have you seen this picture?
Every time someone posts a picture of something remarkable, a bunch of internet "experts" get diarrhea of the mouth over it. Remember "Hogzilla" and "Monster pig"? I attribute this to the fact that they've never gotten off their fat BUTTS long enough to even try to do something remarkable, so they refuse to believe anyone else could.
I think it's darned cool, and totally possible.

Re: Have you seen this picture?
Most guys here only call coyotes in pairs anymore. Lots of guys have reported seeing mountain lions when calling coyotes.
I have a dumpster on the far side of my pole barn. It is lit by a big area lamp but we still don't take the trash out at night. I've seen mountain lion tracks out by the dumpster on more than one occassion.

Back in 1960 I was a blister rust checker for the park service in yosemite. Every day I was in the boonies and we couldnt pack a gun. I never gave it a thought or worried a bit, we were young and it was a adventure. Then one day I was working in some heavy mansanita brush, got boxed in heavy stuff where it probley would take half a day to fight through 50 yards of it! I crawled right up to a fresh killed buck! That did give me pause!
Re: Have you seen this picture?
I varmint called mostly solo for thirty years before I met a cougar that was determined to make me lunch, one LBT 180 gr from a Win 94 .357 put a end to that behavior---permanently.
I had called that same location many times over the years, lots of coyotes, a few bobcats and Javelina, right out in the flats, last place you would expect to see a cougar.
Have fun

Didn't say I thought it was fake, said I didn't know. If it is real, then it's a unique and rare moment captured in time. I've hunted and killed mountain lions. I know how stealthy they can be, so such a situation is entirely possible.Travis Morgan wrote:Every time someone posts a picture of something remarkable, a bunch of internet "experts" get diarrhea of the mouth over it. Re: Have you seen this picture?
Anyone remember this???
Back in the 80's Outdoor Life posted a pic of a family having their picture taken in front of some federal park sign. Sorry, can't remember which. Anyway, when they got home they had the pictures developed only to find a lion staring them down from the trees behind the sign. Pretty well freaked em out. Can't say I wouldn't get a little tingly

Re: Have you seen this picture?
The average full grown mountain lion will take about 50 deer a year! I know the state trapper for the unit I hunt in here in Oregon, and he said they've gotten so out of control here since the idiots passed the no hunting with dogs law, that the deer populations have plummeted! The state has finally realised they have no natural predator of big cats, and he was authorized to start taking them using dogs, under Fish and Game permission. He took 38 of them last year in just the one hunting unit!

Re: Have you seen this picture?
Fish and Game in Idaho told me an adult mountain lion will kill a deer or elk about every 5 days in the winter. More often in the summer as they won't eat spoiled meat. 38 cats taken out of one unit is incredible. That's 1900 more deer around.

Re: Have you seen this picture?
This might be somewhat political but the picture reminds me of Obama's terrorist policies. If we just ignore the mountain lion or call it another name, maybe it will go away.

Re: Have you seen this picture?
Cats are smart hunters! They know the deer visit the feeder, so they wait for dinner to come to them! Good reason not to set up a feeder, unless you want to help bring deer to the cats!
