What does your Marlin/Winchester 30/30 group look like?

I shot my 336 that I picked up a week or so ago. It was made in '76. Shooting from a rest. It did not like the 160gr Hornady's. They shot a 3 inch group at 50 yds. It did however seem to like the Winchester 170gr silver tips and shot 1 1/2 group at 50 yds. I have a 4-12x40 scope mounted on it right ...

Re: Stock refinishing/dying questions.

Thank you gentlemen.

I'm thinking about dying some wood stocks black. I wasn't sure if the linseed oil would mix with the liquid dye.
Or I may just strip it down and putting linseed oil on as a base and leave it as its natural color.
Thanks for the heads up.

Stock refinishing/dying questions.

Has anyone used Linseed oil and rit dye(liquid) to stain/dye a stock? I don't know if it will mix well. Maybe powder and linseed oil would be better? How does the linseed oil take to the wood? Messy? I've thought about boiling some water or at least very hot and submerging the stock in the hot dye m...

I may be the odd man out but I like a good evil black rifle that will hold 30 rounds of 5.56 or one that will hold 20 rounds of 7.62. I think they're purty.

Rust was starting to form at the end and inside the barrle. I scrubbed it out as best I could. I also found that the barrle band screw is stripped and the forearm wood is cracked the full length of the stock. But it's all good. I can get new stocks and screws for it. Hope it shoots well. Will try to...

Good pawn shop find.

Just went in to see what they had. I very rarely do because I don't usually don't find good deals. A guy was haggling over a 336 with a straight grip (336T), the barrel says 336. He wanted to give $200 for it. The tag said $450. Owner said she would take $350 cash, guy said no. Owner put it back on ...

I agree with whats being said. Shot both and love both. The edge has to go to the 243 for felt recoil while the edge goes to the 308 for broader range of bullets and for larger game. Either way both are great calibers.

Casting will done outside. Maybe on a campfire. But have a butane stove ready in case that don't work.

I didn't think a crimp was needed. Also, doesn't 1oz of shot = 1oz slug? There is video's of the process on youtube but I can't access them from this PC.

I'm going to take 1oz shot from the case, melt it, mold it into a slug and put it back in the case. Never done this, or any casting for that matter. This is my first go at it.
