Re: 33 Winchester.
Thank you guys, Didn,t realize the .33 was a .338. Makes bullets much easier. If I buy the 33 I might use some 45/70 or similer brass. But I would probably just bite the bullet (pun intended ) and buy Quality cartridge ,or jamison brass with the proper head stamp. I found an 1899 manufactured model ...

33 Winchester.
In a position to buy another old levergun. Have a few opertunities that are prety apealing. One of the rifle is a Model 1886 33 winchester. I looked a Midway and they have brass a 2 bucks a piece, but no bullets at all. Hornady used to make one but no longer does. There has to a commercial casting c...

Re: Photos of the firearm displays at our show last weekend
Thats the show at witch I got my 30/30. The one I pictured in my thread a new a new on I think I called it. I rejoined the outfit that put it on too. What a class bunch of people. There was another display of classic doubles and each was sitting next to a cartridge. I am sure you could buy a very ni...

Re: Here's one for you Win. 88 fans.
The second 88 is in a reasonable price range to me. I know where a guy can get a prety nice .284 for 1500.00. I don't see what makes the 1st rifle so valuable. But I admit I am not familiar with the scope on it or the mounts. But as a hunter there is no scope mount set up that is worth a whole lot o...

Re: A new one !
What the heck happend, I posted a reply right after the picture. Oh well, Its a 30/30 made in 1908. Bore is bright and shiney. The peep is a lyman #2A . I traded my 1925 vintage 30/30 eastern carbine and 200 Bucks for the Rifle. Meaning I am in it about 825.00. The fellow I traded with had my carbin...

Re: 32-20 vs 30 carbine
If you are shooting in modern marlin, you can certainly best 1100 with the 115 grain cast bullets. the light loads are for old colt single actions. I have a 1907 model 92 winchester and I am getting 1500 with 100 grain hornady hollow point handgun slugs using W-231. I would get somthing else for dee...

I got a 1928 carbine for 650.00. If you have 500.00 to spend a pre64 is within reach.O.S.O.K. wrote:yep, agree - the rust is a big detractor in price - offer $300 with plans on spending $150 to refinish the receiver (color case hardening is very attractive!) or pass.

I took a couple of my old lever guns out to the woods today. I had a ball of course. My 1895 SRC in 30/40 krag is very acurate , But it shoots way high. I will probably have to find a new taller front site blade, if i am going to hunt with it. My 1892 octagon rifle is just a hoot ! I had some ultra ...

save some more dough and get somthing real cool. A pre 64 30/30 can still be had for around 800. 00 and that is for a saddle ring carbine. But If you want somthing bigger save just a little more ang get your self a marlin 45/70. I am a certified winchester loon, but my 1895 marlin is one hell of a l...

30/WCF I will check my reserch again, i certainly don't want to exede safe preasure. The preasure level of the 25/20 is I believe 28000 cup, and that and the 218 bee were the only rounds desigend for the 92. I just picked up another book on the 92 and it bigger brother the 86. I will see what is sai...

Re: loading for a real 44/40.
Old time hunter, thanks for reminding me of what can happen should I not be prudent in my loading. in the years betwwe 1896 and 1922 , the year mine was built there were a ton of advances made in heat treating and such. Just imajine how many changes were made to weapons during WWI. Also if you are f...

I just bought a winchester 1892SRC in 44/40. It is vintage 1922. I want to develop a decent load for it with 200 grain bullets. I have starline brass and remington bullets on the way. I want to start at somewhar around 1550 to 1600 FPS and work up to the old factory high vel load at 1800. Any body h...

But winchester bob is clearly worth a phone call. he doe,s not list any sights for a 95 but but I bet the ones for a 94 carbine would work fine on my 95 carbine. I will have a look here in a minite and see if t...

I did some shooting today ! With both my 1892 32/20 and my 1895 30/40 Krag. Quite fun. The 92 will need just a little sight drifting once I settle on a load, and it will shoot real well. The 95 is realyy a great rifle. I am very suprised at the acuracy i got with both the 180 grain corlocket factory...

I drove over to the local range, And they were closed cause it was raining like hell. So I took advantage of the tme to put together some hand loads. I had some 180 grain sierra rnd noses and I seated them over a charge of IMR-4350. The more I handle the 95 the more I like it. It's put together like...

Its a 30/40 Krag saddle ring carbine. made in 1921. I picked it up saurday along with the 1992 on the other post. If you have never seen one quite like it, it is a sort of a military type rifle. It has a trap door in tthe but that stll contains the origional cleaning kit after 88 years. The rear sit...

Even an old winchester loon like myself likes that alot ! I have been rescerching alot latly, and discoverd the the 38/55 was origionaly a marlin cartridge, developed as a target round for a marlin ballard rifle. So, that kind of puts into a context where the set trigger makes sence. I bet if you co...

I can pick it up anytime. its sitting at a cabela's about 110 miles away. I will probably head up there after work on friday night. If you want a look at it, go to cabela's web site , click on the gun library, go to the top and search 1895. Its the one that says its in wheeling wv. And lists a 1999 ...

It does have the cabine style curved steel but plate but has no sadle ring. Its quite acurate but it shoots rather high.
