Bitten buy the WCF BUG.

Post by tj3006 »

Hello everybody,
My 1st post here on the lever gun fourum. I am a certified rifle loonie of the highest order.
But I recent ly decided to start buying winchester levers more or less exclusivly.
Got myself a 1828 eastern carbine to start things off, and it is a lot of fun.
I have an order in to reatiler in another state for somthing alittle more exotic, a 1895 SRC in 30/40 craig.
Not real pleased with the servece from those yahooes yet and I may cancel the order if they don't get things rolling.
I aplied for my Curio & relics licence, a couple weeks ago to make things easier , and I hope to buy qa couple other old levers before I start to get sticker shock.
I found a 30/30 short rifle I want and a 44/40 octagon I want too.
Anyway better get used to my poor spelling, and if anybody has an old winchester for sale or trade PM me...tj3006

Portland, Oregon, one of the most beautiful cities I know about when you drive by at night on I-5. Welcome to the forum, and hope you get some good deals on levers with that C&R license.
To hell with them fellas, buzzards gotta eat same as the worms.

Welcome! I, too, enjoy old Winchesters and shoot a variety of the old classics.

You're always welcome, to join me on the firing line, for the silhouette matches down at Tri-County (www.tcgc.org) or visit with Marlinman93 and me, at the monthly Oregon Arms Collectors meetings, but........................we're Marlin guys. :D

There's a bunch of early Win 94's, at both the Tigard and Clackamas Gun Broker locations.

Welcome to the fire! Don't worry about the spelling. As my wife says, "Didja understand me or not?"

I'm your neighbor to the south (Eugene area). I have a couple of Winnies and a few Marlins. I fish flies AND bait, too, whichever catches fish that day.

Oh, and a couple of Brownings, too!

Welcome to the Forum. Yes, Levergunitis is an incurabe affliction; but on the bright side, you've stumbled, tripped or fell in with a true support group to help manage your symptoms.

Fortunately, you won't find those here that will deny their condition, but rather, like the Marines, we embrace it. Should you ask "if your latest find is a worthy buy," the most common response is, "Where's the pics of you NEW gun?" For, next to our purchasing a new levergun, your purchase forstalls our next outbreak!

Ask any questions you like, discuss any topic, but remember, just like good friends and family, we'll squabble from time to time; but... that doesn't mean we don't like ya! I try to abide by the rule, "my right to swing my fist ends well before it connects with your nose". Sometimes my arm quivers with the resistence, but like isometrics, it's good exercise in civility.

Welcome,
I'm a big fan of the '95's as most will attest on here. While I don't own the Krag version, I own a .303 B which is essentially the same. Great rifles and you won't be disappointed. As for the 44 WCF, they usually bring a premium for some reason...don't overlook their baby brother the 38 WCF (38-40). They kill deer sized game just as dead, and are usually a tad bit cheaper in the collectors market. I have 3 of them and every one of them shoots wonderfully. The last two I bought were both 1873's and both shot to the original sights right off the bat with my reloads, and I'm fairly sure that the one hadn't been shot in at least 50 years...
