These guys sell AR500 steel targets. I bought one of their 12" rounds and a stand. I've hit it with everything from .38spl to 7.62x54r (lead core only). It is holding up quite well.

Cimarron Model P load testing
Cimarron Model P range day -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Went out and did some laod testing with the new .357 Model P this morning. Tried 4 different loads as well as some factory store bought. The factory fodder was Winchester 125gr .38spl +p SJHP....

Re: Uberti or Beretta SA?
Follow up on my new Cimarron. Glad to report it shoots poa with 158gr rounds. Fired some factory PRVI sjhp's, and some handloaded lead swc's over 4.2gr of Bullseye. Also discovered that the recoil of the hotter rounds was not bad at all. I am going to need a little practice to get familiar with this...

Re: Uberti or Beretta SA?
Firstly, thanks to all for the opinions and input. Spent the morning browsing and feeling up all the above mentioned players. After much debate and handling, I came home with a Cimarron Model P, 4-3/4" barrel, color case receiver, .357mag. Was smoother than the Uberti's, with a noticably lighte...

Re: Uberti or Beretta SA?
Firefuzz, the only thing you don't like about it? So otherwise it has been a good shooter for you? Is yours the 45LC or .357?
So few people seem to have any experience with these.

Uberti or Beretta SA?
I have a Marlin 1894c (.357) that needs a friend. Also have a GP100 and a SP101, but I am really wanting a single action revolver to go along with the lever. This will be a funtime at the range only implement. No SASS. Paper, steel, bottles, whatever. I reload for this caliber. So I'm eyeballing bot...

You favorite lead bullet for loading .357 carbine?
Missouri bullets? LaserCast? What are your favs to use in .357mag (18" barrel), moderate to hot loads?
I've been shooting jacketed with 2400, but want to experiment with some other options.
I do not cast my own.
All input greatly appreciated.

loading plated rounds for carbine - pet loads?
I want to load up some moderate loads for my Marlin 1894c using Rainier plated 158 grainers, but my manuals are not very helpful. Been shooting hot 2400 loads which are fun, but not so great when it comes to brass life. I have Bullseye, Unique, and 2400 on hand. Also would be interested in any lead ...

Re: question - shooting groups
Thanks for the responses so far. Hunting the best 30-30 load for this rifle is my quest here, not deer. Shooting off a concrete bench, butt in shoulder, front stock in hand, hand resting on sandbag. The scope idea might be doable. Also thinkng about going with some Skinner peeps, or atleast the fron...

question - shooting groups
I need info on how much time is typically adequate between shots, for a 5 shot string with a lever. (Marlin336W in .30wcf, micro groove) Been reloading for it and am really having a bear of a time getting acceptable groups. Do not suffer this issue with milsurp bolt actions, even with 10 shot groups...

Re: Long Range Shooting with a .357 Lever Gun?
I just recently got a Marlin 1894c .357mag that I've been getting better aquainted with. Last weekend I shot a really good batch of groups at 50 yards while adjusting my new Skinner peep sight. Did so well I skipped 100 and jumped over to the 19 inch gong at 200 yards. Couple shots to find the hold ...

new 1894c fun @ the range
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Took my latest acquisition out for a little plinking after work Friday. Sun was on it's way down and it was still pushing 100deg F. so I didn't stay long. It's a .357mag and I was shooting handloads to set my new Skinne...

Re: Unique, Unique
Lot of people here saying the new Unique is cleaner. Having never used the old I have no point of reference and don't know. What I do know is that both Bullseye and 2400, current production, leave little if any soot on my cylinders when I shoot. I cannot say the same of the new Unique. Hey, it even ...

I was born and raised in Michigan. Been in Oklahoma since 1988, and lived in Norman for close to 10 years.
Nobody in Norman is going to care if your a yankee. It's a very cool town, and close to OKC.

Re: Can't say enough good about Skinner Sights
I'll chime in for Skinner, two big thumbs up. Got a front/rear set for my 1894c month or so back and love them. Check this out ... I emailed back and forth a couple times with the Doc over a weekend, little question and answer diddy. When I heard all I needed and told him I was sold, he offered to p...

Re: shooting 158gr plated in Marlin 1894c/ w 2400 ??
El Chivo, please do post your results when you get done with that particular load. I've been using jacketed rounds with 14.5gr of 2400 and it works quite well. But I've got a boatload of plated on hand that I'd like to use.
No problems downloading the 2400 to 10gr?
I'll have to give it a try.

shooting 158gr plated in Marlin 1894c/ w 2400 ??
Anyone here have a nice load to be used with 158gr plated boolits and 2400 powder. Will be shooting 18 inch barrel. Just plinker and target loads. I have 2400 powder on hand and very little in 4 different loading manuals for this combo. Also have some Bullseye, but I figured it too fast for the rifl...

skinner sights? -opinions wanted-
Looking at receiver sights for a Marlin 1894c.
Been contemplating Skinners as well as some others.
Anybody here use the Skinner Sights and have feedback about them?

Re: New Marlin 1894c / prob with rear sight
Wow, thanks for all the info, and advice. For Joe, initial groups were shot with sights centered. Sorry I didn't give you guys the entire story. I've been shooting irons for a good 30 years, and learned the peep from Uncle Sam in the 80's. An easy way to remember which goes which way is "front ...

New Marlin 1894c / prob with rear sight
Tried to post this up at Marlinowners.com, but for some reason I cannot get registered there..... So I have taken my new Marlin 1894c(.357mag) to the range twice now, and think i have a problem. POI is 5 inches right of POA @ 50 yards. I bumped the fron sight to the right in hopes of remedying the i...
