You favorite lead bullet for loading .357 carbine?
Missouri bullets? LaserCast? What are your favs to use in .357mag (18" barrel), moderate to hot loads?
I've been shooting jacketed with 2400, but want to experiment with some other options.
I do not cast my own.
All input greatly appreciated.

You don't mention for what purpose - moderate to hot loads yes... so use one with a gas check. For hunting, I would recommend Lead Head or other wide-flat-nose 158 or 180 grain boolits. For plinking with mild to moderate loads, the Laser Cast 158 grain rnfp are a good boolit - feed slick, don't lead and are accurate.

A Jim Dandy! My wifes rifle however, doesn't care for more than 14grs. Very very accurate.Charles wrote:14.5/2400/358156

You all sold me on the 358156 gas check. I use IMR 4227, 13 gr. They hit out of my Marlin 1894 the same as my 158 gr. XTP's with 14 grains of 2400. Shooting them both at clay targets at 100 yards. Using orange clays at that distance cause it is the only target I can make out at that distance and they provide alittle action at the range.

my favorite has been Mastercast, they do a nice 180 and they have a gas-checked version if you want it.
The plain-base is the same bullet mold as Lasercast, but I like their alloy a little better. However I don't push them fast. I use 9.5gr SR 4759. Gives excellent accuracy for pistol cartridge silhoutte.
Lasercast is a close second, and works for hotter loads. I use 13.0 gr IMR 4227, this is load for long range.

For the best fun with coyotes I load 110 gr sierra hp's with 20 gr of 296. Makes them lose thier minds. Out of a 1894 Marlin 18" carbine. Very fun load!

Re: You favorite lead bullet for loading .357 carbine?
I got the same mold as dave in maine has. Mine is a PB though. It casts a fine bullet that I size to .360 and have had great luck with it ahead of 10gr. 2400 .
11gr. 2400 gives a little over 1400 fps and leading in my Marlin Cowboy.
I have heat treated some and will push them a little harder next time to see how fast they will go in the HT condition before leading starts.
