skinner sights? -opinions wanted-
Looking at receiver sights for a Marlin 1894c.
Been contemplating Skinners as well as some others.
Anybody here use the Skinner Sights and have feedback about them?

I've never used his Marlin rear sights.... but his custom front blades are First Rate.

Nicely made.
They are a set 'em and leave 'em sight.

Re: skinner sights? -opinions wanted-
I just (as in two days ago) received the Skinner peep site for my Marlin 30AW and while I have yet to get it to the range I'm very happy with it so far. It's about as simple to install as anything I've ever used and is built solid enough that even as clumsy as I can be,I don't have to worry about breaking it.
The peep allows very quick site alignment and will be easy to adjust when I try it at the range. I like it well enough that I'm going to order one for my 1894FG and one for the little Henry lever gun. I don't know yet if I'll need to change out the front sites yet but if I do it'll be worth it since my rapidly aging eyes can do a lot better with a peep than the issue buck horns.

Very well made, they look good, and they work.
For the money you can't beat them. You won't be disappointed.

They are strongly made and finished up well. The one on my guide gun worked better than I did last weekend.

I have a Skinner Lo-Pro on my Marlin 1894 in 44Mag and also a Skinner rear sight on my Marlin 1895 Guide Gun.
They are first class sights, I am very pleased with them and Tim is a great guy to deal with

If you're going to hunt that Marlin, and will remove the aperture for a "ghost ring" effect, you might want to consider not getting a brass version - since it's very reflective in direct sunlight.
Not too bad, when sighting through the blued aperture, though.
The Skinner LOPro is intriguing, as a minimal peep.

As mentioned, his front blades are first-rate.
His peep is very nice and unobtusive, but it does not have the same range
of vertical adjustment as a Lyman or Williams. It may, therefore, be helpful to
send him your cartridge information - "for a Marling 336 in 30-30 shooting
mainly 170gr. bullets".
He is a real gentleman to deal with.

Take a look at his ladder peep sight for the 1894. It is a nice sight. Built heavy duty. Tom.

Now that sounds intriguing, Head0001.
I'll have a gander at it........
Of course, I already have sights on the levers that I own.
I might have to search out one in 41 Mag - just so I have something to
put the sight on, you understand.

I have a set of Tim's sights on my 1894 FG. I have no complaints whatsoever.
Tim is nothing but an upstanding person.

Re: skinner sights? -opinions wanted-
Dr Skinner has looked after me , answered all my questions and customised his product to suit my needs , I live in Australia and he shipped to me promptly , had both sets I ordered in my hand 8 day's later . Put them on your Marlin if you want a rugged simple accurate sight , he has several models for you to choose from .
The windage and elevation is fiddly in the field as it uses a hex grub screw compared to a receiver mounted click adjustable sight - in my veiw they are set and forget learn your rifle sights best suited to close to medium range due to not having a click adjustment . A Deer is not going to hang around and wait for you to loosen the grub screw wind the peep up or down and retighten the grub screw . For me these sights are perfect for my .357 as I have no intention of shooting beyond 75 to 100 yards at game
His ladder peep sight could be a good option as it is much quicker to adjust range with in the field , just push up the cross bar , I am wondering about one for my Rossi for a bit more range if I ever decide to shoot 200 yard silhouette .
regards Jacko

I have the Lo-Pro on my Marlin 336. It's very well made with very minimal obstruction. Simple and effective. A lot like a Marlin levergun!

Dr. Skinner custom threaded my lo-pro sight in 6-48 to screw into a receiver hole on my 'Turd'. (It's a Mossberg 464). Looks wonderful on there. Now to get a blank to fill in the rear dovetail where the old sight was...
