To be fair you cannot compare the .30-30 LeveRevolution to the .308 Marlin Express. To begin with the two bullets are different and have a different BC. That's the first I heard they were different bullets. Where'd you get that info? The BC difference might be based soley on the difference in veloc...

The 308MX has become my go to rifle. I killed a lot of stuff with the 308MX last year. First off I shot a deer at 365 yards with it. The shot was nearly straight on. It flipped the deer over backwards and the bullet I recovered near the left rear hind quarter, and it weighed 129 grains, it opened up...

I have shot it out of several 30-30's a few 35 Rems, a 444, and a few 45-70's and not one single problem, none have the new followers. Even shot it out of my Win 94AE and no problems.

I think I would have quit using it the first time. Some powders tend to do that more than others. Check out Hodgdons site for the Trapdoor loads. Trail boss would be a very good choice in those old rifles.

I'm still working up loads for it so I don't have anything that I have settled on yet. I spoke with the techs at Hodgdon a few weeks ago to see if they had some idea what to use for acuracy loads. They only shoot for pressures and velocity and don't worry about accuracy. Sierra doesn't have any data...

I wouldn't go with a once piece firing pin for safety reasons. I have been shooting Marlins for the better part of 30 years and have never had a problem with the factory firing pins.
