The first gun I bought for myself after high school was a 94 Winchester in .30-30. A skunk had the misfortune of getting too close to my uncle's farmhouse not long after.

150 gr soft point + skunk = hamburger!

I thought the Cimaron was a Uberti clone of the 1866 Winchester with the toggle link action in a brass frame (another reason to keep it mild).

I saw three groups cross my place over a period of an hour last Saturday.

They passed with 100 yards of me each time as a friend of mine I visited after doing a little shooting. I had a .38-55 and he a 45-75.

Changed my mind about the 1894S .41 mag because the front sight base came off I'm in the process of getting it back on and re sighting.
So, looks like it'll be the 1895 Guide Gun with a Miwall 405gr JSP clocked at 1377 MV and sighted in at 75 yards.
It's nice to have a little ol' backup!

I have a 50 rounder (Ramline, maybe Butler Creek) and it never worked reliably. The Butler Creek "Hot Lips" 25 rounder does a good job in the 10/22 that I converted to an EBG as soon as the ban lifted -just'cause I could!

I drive the West Texas leg of that fairly often. I wouldn't worry about the heat in a good car with AC. It's worth seeing the country to do it in the daylight and there's MUCH less chance of an "encounter" with deer on the road.

Why travel if you're not going to see where you're going?
