Re: Redfield peep sight info
The dent systems should include a small steel ball and spring. You should be able to rob parts form any of the model 70 redfield sight for those. When looking for one on ebay look for a Mauser or Springfield sight to rob as these sell for way less money than one that fits a Winchester or Marlin or t...

Have to agree with Mike Hunter, Sako Finnwolf. I would put mine up against any lever in a shoot off.

Lots of talk of cabin fever and such lately got me think about summer and shooting more again. And of course warmer weather. Could have been the blizzard that we got yesterday also. Anyway, thought that I would post a few pictures of some of the matchs around North Dakota and Montana. This one is fr...

As I mentioned above, I heated the carrier and bent it up. As far as protecting the spring from heat, I use some wonderful stuff call heat stop paste and a wet rag held on the carrier with copper wire wrapped around it. Small tip on the torch heat it up fast and get the job done. Don't take the rag ...

This outfit in Mandan, North Dakota makes good ones. We have used their electric ones for several years and they work great if you have electric power where you are branding. When we brand away from power we use home made irons and heat with propane. We also have a set of their freeze brand numbers ...

Leverguns shouldn't have a safety
Had to shoot a cow that wasn't going to make it the other day so grabbed my brother's lastest purchase (Marlin Cowboy with the the 24 in. barrel in 357). Also grabbed a 38 special box of ammo. Loaded one, aimed, klick. Nothing, pulled the hammer back, klick, still nothing. Ejected the cartridge, no ...

We run straight number 1 diesel, starting in November. In October you can get by with a blend. I have a tank heater on the loader tractor and have it on a timer so it comes on about two hours before I start. 21 below zero this morning when I was starting the tractor to put out hay. It is up to 16 below now. It is a rare day in North Dakota with no wind so it isn't bad out there. Hydrolics worked pretty slow though.

I have an 1860 Colt that has the cut out in the hammer and there are little nipples or posts in the cylinder between the chambers that you can set the hammer down on. So it would be safe to load six. Not sure about the cartridge conversions that became popular in later years, maybe they had a simila...

I have used a PACT for a few years, no complaints. I wouldn't get too hung up on compairing it to factory rounds and what they say their velocity is supposed to be. No two guns will shoot the same ammo at the same vel. Too many other variables, barrel length, bore size and condition, temperature etc...
