Kirk,
Wow, what a super nice rifle. You know who to turn to if you need a .401", 20-1 lead/gas check RNFP-SWC bullet for that thing!

Re: ANYBODY RELOAD 32 WINCHESTER SPECIAL
No, but I turn .32 Special cases into (short) .32-40 cases, and reload the pulled .32 Spec. bullet! Shoots nicely out of my '93 Marlin.
I see no reason .323" cast bullets shouldn't work fine, provided they chamber.

Re: Florida Levergunners Lets Meet SOON! How about FEB 19th?
Feb 19th Manatee gun club. Works for me. All I want to do is some casual plinking at relatively close range. I guess I need to get to handloading!

Re: OT Happy Birthday Stone Fence
Thanks guys. Sunday was pretty quiet, but I did get to the range with my dad this morning -shot the uberti '51 Navy conversion and my .30 M1 carbine with some handloads. The Pro-Mag 30 round magazine I picked up last week functioned flawlessly in the M1-- hope I never have a use for a 30 round magaz...

so I'm gathering here that there is little interest, and it's probably impractical as minimum runs would most likely be somewhere north of 100,000 rounds......

OT- special run of obsolete ammo - anyone?
I was thinking the other day (know that is dangerous but doing it anyway) that it would be nice to have another run of .32 rimfire or perhaps .41 rimfire or even .41 Colt done. Is anyone else interested? Does anyone know what the minimum number of rounds is? The cost? I ws thinking if we could get 4...

Re: Has anyone heard from Stonefence?
I'm here guys. Just been very busy-- got laid off from my day job end of May, had to take a night job with 12 hour shifts to keep the bills paid, and wind up having to sleep most of my 3 off days, which sucks. Looks like the bullet biz is going to have to down-shift into the hobby zone again. I don'...

Re: What's the right jacketed bullet for .38-55 Trails End?
Guys, I have been notified that my day job is going away. So, hopefully in a couple of weeks you will no longer have to wait as long to buy some of my .38-55 bullets! I occasionally put some out on gunbroker.com under the ammo (not reloading) section, so check that from time to time. -Stone PS- than...

Re: New Marlin 40-65
Barnes used to have a jacketed 260 grain .406 flat point, but it appears they dropped it. I make custom jacketed levergun bullets for .38-55, and could tool up to do it for .40-65 if enough guys had rifles-- the demand is not there to make it worth it at present. I agree that it is a good caliber, e...

Kirk, great report as always....I'm working on those jacketed .401" samples right now, just got in the jackets so hopefully will have them to you before your next range session. It would be interesting to see how jacketed does versus cast, although the cast not too shabby so far. I get the same...

Re: Home made jacketed bullets?
As to the question of why-- I prefer a jacketed bullet for 2 reasons. 1) many vintage rifles have oversize, slightly pitted bores, and sometimes (not all the time) a custom, jacketed bullet is the only thing that shoots well. Second, using a jacketed bullet in a caliber like .38-55 you can have a de...

Aussie-
I make a jacketed .378" bullet that ought to do well in your legendary frontiersman. They are $36 a box of 50- I will do a half box for you if you want to try. e-mail me at david@custombullets.com and I will send you a pic.

looks like you are in good shape then. I would look at the Speer 100 grain JHP for loading the .32-20.
good luck with it, and do ping me if you want anything not readily available.

1886- As some know, I started swaging my own jacketed .378" (also .375") bullets about 4 years ago as a hobby, because what I wanted wasn't available (at least at a decent price) in the marketplace. I've since added heavy .357 (190 grain) bullets for .357 Max, a .401" TCFP for .38-40 ...

Re: 38/55 Vs. 375win
The .38-55 can be loaded all the way up to 1900 fps or perhaps a bit more while staying within .30-30 pressure levels as Hobie said. This is within spittin distance of the .375 Win, and enough for bigger game than whitetails. BTW, I am back at making bullets after a 2 year absence while my son got o...
