Re: 45lc 1892 COL maximum --anyone?
The bullet may be hanging up in the cartridge stop. Mine likes the rcbs 300 grain gas check swc quite well. At 1500fps it duplicates the 45/90 black powder load.

Re: Buffalo Bore 30-30 190 grain
Shot from my everyday day rifle. Winchester model 64A so it's a twenty four inch barrel. Load is 34 grains of leverevolution with both the hollow point and cup point. 2225 fps-33es-16sd for the hollow 2185fps-25es-12sd for the cup. This is the Ackley improved chamber. Tried several other powders, no...

Re: Buffalo Bore 30-30 190 grain
The NOE 189 grain hollow point at just under 2300 stayed in the seventh water jug. The first three jugs were shredded. Remaining bullet weighed 99 grains. The cup nose was not recovered. It was lost after jug number six. Jug number seven was not injured. Pretty impressive for the wicked little thirty.

Re: Buffalo Bore 30-30 190 grain
NOE makes a mold for the 30/30 in flat point that weighs 200. Also comes with a cup nose and hollow point plugs. I'm amazed what they will do in a standard chamber and an improved with leverevolution powder. Will be my hunting load this fall for whitetails in the wood river and a cow elk in fifteen ...

I've got the same rifle. Thousands of 300rcbs gas check pushed by 20.5 of wc 820(lot#47321) with a Remington 21/2 in starline cases. Runs right at 1500. I've also shot an NEI 250 grain gas check running 1750 with 24 grains of wc820. All in starline brass. Either load is accurate and hard hitting out...

Yellowstone rifle club in Billings Montana uses a plasticized cardboard that is tough and light. They may be able to help steer you. The center's are replaced with spray foam as needed.

Re: What is the proper method of managing heavy recoil?
My experience with lead sleds is they make the rifle shoot a foot or more high at a hundred when it's in the field. Very frustrating to get someone on an animal and all their shoots go over its back. Maybe I'm rather prejudiced because the person I was dealing with...... I just shoot mostly with a m...

Simple load a 275 speer in the 338 at 2600 and shoot through everything you need to. Oh and if you have any solids they don't stop.

About a hundred yards from my house is a pile of bear poo. Does this mean we're at risk from a bear encounter? Should I worry? Should I call the authorities? Maybe I'll go about my business armed and aware........

Re: Bighorn Armory Model 89 - 500 S&W Levergun Arrived
I've shot a few 500 grain Hornadys at 1800 plus. Anything beyond that lenght won't fit and from what I've seen they aren't stabilized. Michael McCourey killed a couple of bull giraffes with this bullet in one of his 500 cartridge's. B&M rifles is his website with a ton of testing results without...

Re: Bighorn Armory Model 89 - 500 S&W Levergun Arrived
It's a fun cartridge in the rifle. Nine grains of trail boss with Lyman 501680 runs 900. As much blackhorn 209 and same bullet runs 1200. And then it really gets interesting. Lilgun is probably the best powder for heavy loads, like a450 Keith at 1900. A 400 grain cast mihec at 2135. The 400 grain Ho...

Re: 50 Alaska cartridge
We shoot from nine grains of trail boss to lots of Lil gun in our lever 500s. My favorite load for spring bear is a 400@ 2135fps. Our loads are in the fifty thousand psi plus because we can. 450 Keith's at 1900 from an eighteen inch carbine are easily attained in a 1.620 case.

Sand will grind up your bullets, try rubber mulch. Is a lot easier on the bullet. Finally see some accuracy with trail boss loads. Have to try them for a grouse load.

24" 30/30 improved with 4895, Winchester cases, Winchester primer, and the NOE 200 grain runs 2197fps. Primer pockets stay tight. Have played with light bullets in the little thirty but not so useful in the Rockies anymore. The hollow point version of this bullet will be my rockchuck and prairi...

I've shot this bullet quite a bit in the 45 Colt, loaded to 1200 fps. Cast them with a pure lead nose and a tire weight base. Expanded well on jackrabbits, dont remember what else we shot with them. My mold casts a .460 diameter bullet and they are accurate in my Trapdoor. with black powder and Blac...

Hornady used to make a 275 grain round nose bullet in 35 caliber. It was a good bullet. I shoot the 30 caliber 240 grain Woodleigh especailly designed for the 30/06, in a 30/06. It is accurate as I can hold and seems to punch through everything I've shot with it.
