To further expain what Terry is sayin is that if Keith had a strong Ruger type gun in the 1920's the .44 mag may never have been. I started in the early 60's with daisy bb-guns. when I was 14 I used my hay money to get a Sheridan Blue Streak .20cal :o . it cost $37.00 and I still have it. the first year I killed 14 fox squirrels with it. Welcome to the Fire. The Colt will do a great job on deer. In a rifle the pistol cartridges really come alive. If You reload the .45 really shines.here is a great article from Paco.
