By the way Ed, Low Walls in .22 schuetzen configuration are pretty unusual. Even factory special sporting rifles built on the Low Wall action are rare. Pretty neat that you've seen a few, as most folks rarely see them!-Vall

Just curious...but I have seen quite a few lo-walls chambered for the 22 short. Some of them in configurations similar to your Ballard. So what type of competition were these used for??? There seem to be some pretty elaborate rifles out there chambered for the short. Nice Ballard MarlinMan... :wink...

These Pope scope mounts are very cool! They actualy hinge open so you don't have to take the scope apart to install them on the scope!

Range report will have to wait until after deer season, as I'll be extremely busy with several hunts the next month to 6 weeks.
Seller guarantees that it shoots dime sized groups at 50 yds. for him, so we'll see if I can do anything close to that!-Vall

Well our weather got to looking like fall this week! Temps dropped into the 40's last night, and highs in the mid 70's.
Deer season starts the last weekend this month, and between buck, doe, and elk, I'll be doing a lot of hunting in October and early November.
I love this time of year!

Oops! Sorry Joe. All #3 Ballards were either .22 short, or .22 LR. This one is .22 LR.
I have seen a number of them in .25 rimfire, but that caliber is newer and not factory, but a rebore.

I like Scott's method for a singleshot rifle. For a levergun I like the front swivel drilled and tapped into the forearm cap. If it's got barrel bands, I like it on the band. Never liked the mag tube mounts.

Thi law has been challenged and CCH holders have already won their case. Somehow school districts still think they can defy the law, especially as it pertains to teachers.
It appears that school districts think they own their employees, and can dictate their own version of the CCH laws.

If you use felt, be sure it's wool felt! Regular cotton felt also draws moisture! Marlin used the regular felt on their two gun engraved commemorative sets of 336-39a octagons back in 1970. It's rare to see one of these sets that doesn't have corrosion if they were stored in their case!

I bought a cheap pair of gloves and cut the fingers off. Took the cut off fingers and slipped hem over my tang sights with a small rubber band to hold them in place. Works great and you get ten finger covers for a couple bucks!

Around town I carry a model 60 S&W .38, but I like something bigger for camp gun. I carry a 4 3/4" .45 Colt SAA around camp or out hunting. It just sits right, and I'm not concerned with concealed carry as I am around town. Never had to use it for anything but fun so far.
