Re: Leverevolution Ballistics? Same as a normal round?

They're not bad though, depending on caliber no miracle either. Accuracy results from most of the other variables and Hornady generally is good stuff. They will have a little better terminal ballistic because of the more aerodynamic shape, though not extremely better. I'd say you might get another 5...

Re: Need Scope Help

^ Pete is correct and that is likely the solution or the major part of it. Two other things to consider are the "cheek weld" so you have all the angles, including the recoil "sweep" correct; the other is that the higher the magnification the more sensitive and shallow (small rang...

Re: '94 come back ?

I feel the same way as nemhed. I wanted a 92 in .357 but thought the price of the new one outrageous. And, I don't want the Japanese one, anyway. Nothing practical against them and I'm sure the machining is top notch. But, I won't patronize those who are held up as examples of "gun control.&quo...

Re: OT - Laying up foodstuffs

We always have extra supplies. In Florida, one needs to be prepared for hurricanes and resulting power outages. The Mrs. is even more diligent about it than I am. Any other emergency is just an extension. However, I would add that another important ingredient is OPSEC, and you need a lot of that. Fi...

Re: OT-Colt SAA on Gunbroker, why so expensive?

If you watch gunbroker very often you will see alot of gun listings that have outragous reserves that are left to start over after the gun is not sold. IMO I blame the gun auction sites for even having an option that allows this. Its always annoying to se someone trying to get inflated prices on a ...

Re: OT-Colt SAA on Gunbroker, why so expensive?

Yikes! I was doing a few things at once and didn't notice (man, getting stupid) the color-case or lack thereof. Given that, I'd have to agree with the $1,500. above, with the other $1,500. (from the $3,000) going to whack the hands off the butcher who did that.

Re: Browning BLR

Be sure you get one made in 81 (I believe) or later. The magazines are tough to get for the earlier ones made in the 1970s, and they are magazine sensitive. I had one (mid 70s) in .243 and it was one of the handiest and most accurate rifles I've ever handled. First three shots out of the box were at...

Re: OT-Colt SAA on Gunbroker, why so expensive?

He's off by a digit in the text - 15420 in text, 154230 on the revolver. The s/n seems a bit high for 1893; I have a 1st. gen with an 89xxx which, by chance was produced in 1889. Dunno. A lot are refinished from that era; any which can be proven original in that shape would be astronomical , indeed ...

And, in Canada, they've already learned their lesson about "registration". The fools here need to pay attention.

How, then will they fight them on the beaches....and in the streets? Or, have they already surrendered? I believe Churchill also said something about X number of laws makes a nation of laws; 2X number of laws make a nation of scofflaws. Don't remember the exact wording and my book which has it is pa...

Re: Marlin 1895g vs 1895 in 45-70

What I got a kick out of was the carbine length pistol in 45-70 that I briefly owned a couple of years ago! No joke, I had a T/C Contender with a 12" 45-70 barrel, that I got on trade. I fired about 3 rounds out of that configuration and did some more trading! How about the Magnum Rese...

Re: need info. on Williams (sight co.) FP-71 and SM-71

Thanks Pete and Hobie for the helpful information. Obviously, I didn't pose my questions well. I have a 95 from about 1924 or so with a Lyman 21. I didn't care for the Lyman and wanted to try something else. Naturally, the peep sight such as the Williams or another Lyman product come to mind. I did ...

Re: need info. on Williams (sight co.) FP-71 and SM-71

Pete, Thanks, but that seems to be one of the differences between mine and a Miroku. There's only one screw at the upper rear. But, you probably have answered the question regarding the FP-71: it sounds as if they are expecting two holes at the rear. My only remaining hope is the issue of the forwar...

need info. on Williams (sight co.) FP-71 and SM-71

I need to know from someone who has had these in their hands or has a good diagram how many screws are used to mount them. These are for a Winchester model 95 (Winchester, not Miroku). I have been trying to get an idea on mounting a better receiver sight such as the FP 71 peep sight or even the SM 7...

Re: .357 Magnum Hunting... Being Laughed At :(

Look at the buffalo bore (ammunition) website. They have .357 (158 gr.) rounds which are in .30-30 territory. More deer have fallen to .30-30 than anything else. Shot placement is key in anything short of an 88 mm Howitzer. ETA: HA, HA. I answered this before looking at the last post; says the same ...

This is possibly a fake. I do not believe that meter's were even thought of in 1895 (Math question 7) ..wiley Racing Miatas, Good cigars, Big guns Houston, TX Meters did exist at the time purported but I suspect bogus because conversions to meters would not have been done at the time except in very...

Thank you everyone for all your help. Sorry there's been a delay in getting back on to reply - somewhat of a family emergency. I agree I would not want to drill and tap any further. I had been under the impression that the Williams sight would fit to existing holes, but I guess not. So, that has sav...

New to forum. Question on Lyman 21

Hello, everyone. I just joined the forum and can see a lot of good things on here. I have some old levers and some new ones; yes, they are my favorite type of rifle. I do have a question about the mounting and setup of a Lyman 21 sight. I have a Winchester model 95 with one on it. The first issue is...
