'94 come back ?

Post by Mutt »

In the Feb. 2010 issue of GUNS magazine , page "75 " , is a notice
from Winchester that in the 2nd quarter of this year ,the big W. will bring out two models of the '94 . The Custom and the High Grade .
$ 1959.00 , and $ 1469.00 . Says to read more on their web site .
www.winchesterguns.com . Or , (800) 333-3288 .
Did not mention any cartridge size , or any poor man's working gun
model . Reckon they are trying to give Uberti some competition maybe ? But with those prices probably have a hard time . I recently read about this was to be a Jap production , so that I guess ,would kill the American Icon element ! :roll: Japs fighting the Indians :cry: ....Or is Obama changing history also ? ...........................my how times change.

Forum member Jeff Quinn ( GunBlasts Online Magazine) first told us about these a week or so B 4 last Haloween, IIRC.

Forum members discussed them, for five (5) pages, then:

An angle eject, tang safety, replica of '94, for that price? Not much of a come back! I'd rather give my money to Uberti for something a little more interesting for a lower price, but I'm not doing that either. I'm glad I found my 1958 Model 94 when I did, it's not the prettiest thing on the planet but it is authentic.

I feel the same way as nemhed. I wanted a 92 in .357 but thought the price of the new one outrageous. And, I don't want the Japanese one, anyway. Nothing practical against them and I'm sure the machining is top notch. But, I won't patronize those who are held up as examples of "gun control." Why do the Japanese even make them if they are so against guns? (Yeah, they'll sell anything: they like money)

The Miroku made 92s, 86s, 95s, and others have all sold as fast as Browning can import them. So I suspect the 94s will too ... "IF" ... they bring the price down to a reasonable level.
There are just way too many 94s around to keep the sales going with prices over $1,000.00.

For my own part I'll just skip them and look for used American made 94s I can afford.

And AE, not! Too bad there's no listening to customers. A hi-grade model 94, that's not likely to see the field, let alone scope.

Angle eject, tang safety, all tarted up and $1500-$2000 for a made in Japan "Winchester". [SNORT] What a joke!

Sell us something historically accurate for $900? Maybe. But this is freakin' ridiculous.

For that price, I'll buy 3 or 4 'Puma's, and laugh all the way to the bank.

Gosh, really sorry my Rossi 'Pumas' aren't "genuine" Winchesters... :lol:
