Re: Modern Winchester 92s
My Winchester 1892 44 Magnum has a 1:26" twist. I haven't tried a lot of bullet weights yet, but it seems to do well with standard and heavier weights. I do have some lighter bullets to try, I just haven't loaded them yet. It won't chamber the Lee C430-310-RF though because it has a short thro...

I have a current production Winchester 92 in 44 Magnum, and I have a Winchester 94 30-30 from 1971. My 92 is a rifle with 24" barrel and shotgun butt, and the 94 is a traditional carbine with shotgun butt. The 94 of course is lighter and easier to carry being it's a carbine. Both are comfortabl...

Vegetable tanned leather will not corrode brass the way chrome tanned leather will. It's more expensive to tan that way which is why the other is more prevalent. So, you could have a bandoleer made but with vegetable tanned leather and it would resist verdigris. Also, nickel plated cases will resis...

Thank you! All of the rifle options have the lawsuit safeties, I wish they didn't, but they do and I negate them on my Marlin rifles, not sure how a guy would "fix" the Winchester. Turnbull fixes the safety and converts it to half cock notch. https://i.postimg.cc/mgQWRTJc/IMG-3694.jpg The...

I do not. I could probably figure it out for my 30-30 as I keep a record of how many times my lots of brass have been fired. Ain't got a clue for most others. I had a rough guess of 7,000 rounds on my 45 1911 before I sold it. My 22's, it'd be mighty hard to track. My cousin and I put a 500 round br...

. I'd rather have ten guns that might have cost $3,000 each, than fifty that I bought for 'only' $800 each, and in the end would have spent less money anyway. Those 39's are nice guns. I carried a Smith 4006 a while, that's the double stack 40.
Heck, I carry my Blackhawk all the time now. I'm about the most comfortable with a New Model Ruger than I am anything else, so I figured why not?
For an automatic, a 1911 is hard to beat in my estimation.

All those old 1881's had really nice trigger pulls, and the .45-70 caliber 1881's usually had a very short front silver blade sight. That sure describes mine. That's good to know. Neat to get a gift like that. I'd say you have about 2 options, scour some local gunsmiths for a bolt and takeoff stock or find a rifle for a donor that was somehow damaged, such as with a plugged bore. Some hole in the wall gunsmiths might have a bolt and stock on a shelf somewhere and be more inte...

I was able to visit with my friend, and help him work up a load based on Snooky's data. We did use that MBW 420 grain bullet, but in order to feed through the loading gate we had to seat the bullet to 2.710 and crimp just past the driving band on the ogive. With this, we worked up to 62.0 IMR 3031. ...

I've had several late model Winchester 94's with rebounding hammers - I think I've had 4. All of the screws are metric, except for the top screw hole for the tang sight which Turnbull added.
I don't particularly like rebounding hammers, but I'd rather have a rebounding hammer than a safety.

On my Turnbull finished Winchester/Miroku 1892 there has been some significant changes. They have left this part in the f...
