Upon reading the title I thought, there ain't much that I wouldn't trade an AR for. Welp, you hit one of them.
That said, an A2 rifle is the best looking and feeling AR, and I would like to have one. I traded the last one on an 1894 Marlin.

Well, you named the 2 scopes I would recommend for a Marlin levergun, a Leupold 2.5x or 3x M8 and a K2.5 or K3x Weaver. Weaver is more of a gamble than a Leupold, as the latter has a lifetime warranty. One of the Weaver varieties just sold on Marlinowners for $50 shipped. I saw it after it sold. You...

I worked up my loads using 4895 and 4064 to get 100% load density, powder position the same all the time. 4895 was a little quick for the upper loads with the 547gr and 4064 worked better for. I generally use heavier bullets when given the option. I don't have a logical reason as to why. The only deer I shot with a 30-06 so far was with 150 grain bullets, intended for deer. I chose that because the 180 grain bullets are for more thick skinned game. So, I do choose based on intended purpose.

My friend tried the Accurate 51-410P, and it does feed through the loading gate, up through the action, and chamber as it should. It's pretty tight, so it's probably right at the maximum that his rifle will feed. I guess it's a combination of the ogive, meplat, and OAL.
