1,003 rounds later

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

Last year I wanted a SAA size revolver that I could carry daily. Brian Pearce’s recommendation was a late production USFA Rodeo.

So I found this one and today I went over a thousand rounds.

I didn’t really do anything but shoot it. (I did change the trigger return/ bolt spring with a wire one.). And I always loaded it properly. Note that there’s no turn line on the cylinder. The gun is properly timed so you don’t ever drag the cylinder bolt IF you load it properly from the loading notch and always bring the hammer back to full cock before letting it down on an empty chamber.

I was carrying a Colt but last June I decided to have it stocked in elephant ivory. It did not turn out well so I sent it to Paul Persinger in El Paso to get it right.

Turns out that I really like the Rodeo and it is every bit as well made as any Colt…jut not as pretty.

Brian has one like it, an E series Rodeo. But he has put over 20,000 rounds through that one and it’s one of his favorites.

He talks about it in this video. About 45 minutes in.

He also shows this gun off first in this video. (Which they just posted).
