The large diameter of those stock bolt pillars will greatly strengthen the stock by spreading the load over a larger diameter sleeve! A very good mod to any bolt action rifle!

Be sure to degrease those pillars before the epoxy goes on.
Yes those should be more than sufficient to strengthen the stock.
Any idea when your rifle will be back up and running?

I don’t know when it will come back. But I suspect my legal letter had nothing to do with this. I got the return receipt today.

I suspect my issue was more due to dealing with two .gov bureaucracies. The VA & USPS... but, USPS is a monster of a whole 'nuther level! A week ago Tues, my VA Doc called the North Texas VA pharmacy to have them fill a prescription for my ear infection... asked them to rush it. I got the prescription in the mail Monday evening, package marked, "Priority Mail, Express 1-Day". Surprisingly, it was actually sent from Bonham, mailed the same day as my appt., the 10th! IIRC those return receipt cards are 4th class... I hate to think what the USPS thinks of its importance!

My repaired rifle should be here on Wednesday.

Pretty quick turnaround.

The rifle was delivered today and it all looks right.

On this one there’s a space behind the action.

I think I can about guarantee that. I’m going to glass bed it with the aluminum pillars.

See now that stock has relief behind the tang, it's excessive from a stock makers POV but that won't crack from recoil!

You are correct Sir! This stock doesn’t fit nearly as nicely as the first stock. But I don’t really care. I’ll install the pillars and bed it with Acraglass and I won’t need to worry about it anymore.

How is the barrel channel? Do you plan to free float the barrel?

The original stock fit the barrrl like it grew around it. This one, not so much. I’ve found that these light barrel guns sometimes respond well to some upward pressure near the end of the fore-end. Let’s see how it shoots.

A few years ago I was visiting Mic over in Cortez. He turned some pillars for me on his lathe and we bedded the action on my old P17. The original sporter stock had started to split at the rear but with Mic's help we got it fitted up "better than new". Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.
