My old 336 came across as heavier as well; a 336ss 18.5in 30-30.

1. Don't over tighten screws in an aluminum receiver. I'll let ruger know. In fact, I never even got it out of the receiver straight from the box, thanks. I'm no gunsmith, but this is apparently a known QC issue according to some. 2. If you don't like the wood stock get a factory plastic stock. IMHO...

Keltec Sub2k 9mm is only 4lbs.

Now playing devils advocate, I could see not wanting the full load of ammo and having to carry the deer back to the truck. Depending on the trek, you can regret every unnesisary ounce. That said, I'd rather go in with a full pipe than not, even if I never plan on hunting 14+1 deer
