You Boys Are All In My Will

Post by Sixgun »

Yep, I might be floating away. This area of Pa. is about to get the most direct hit from a Hurricane since 1693 and I have no idea how they figured that one out. All other hurricanes have been "pass bys". My better half is all worked up over the power outages, whatever.

The mayor of Philadelphia has been on the news all day telling people, "Make a plan and have it ready by 2 pm tomorrow. :D :D   Mandatory evactuations in low lying areas take effect tomorrow. Looks like he is trying to save his azz as another New Orleans/Katrina is headed our way. This is gonna be a good one. Good thing Philly is 30 miles from me. :D

I'm always ready. Generator, 100 gallons of gas (including whats in the 3 Jeeps) mega amounts of food, guns and ammo, propane, wood, 200 gallons of water.......................on and on. We are expecting 6-10" of rain with 80 mph sustained winds.

So...............first come--first dibs. Get your name on the list.

1.) Raven 25 auto (chrome finish)

2.) Bersa 380. optional "homi boy sights"

3.) Cresent 12 ga double (6" barrel and very short stock)

4.) Mossberg .22 short single shot

5.) Bay State Arms 16 ga. single shot (missing hammer)

6.) car- '76 Lincoln Continental 400,000 miles (on cinder blocks)

The latest "predicted path" of the thing lloked to me as if it gonna skirt us by about 50 miles as far as the potent part was concerned . But as anyone that watches the weather service knows that can change easily by the time it gets here and may have been totally wrong to begin with !

I'm more worried about one of my treestands chained to a tree in Dorchester County Maryland on the eastern shore then I am about the house here

I know you're not in a typical "hurricane prone" area, but I've never understood why people build houses in those areas and don't put good old-fashioned shutters on their windows, so they don't have to panic and nail up plywood every year or so.

Naw, don't need to be in your will, Sixgun. But just in case, would you send me the GPS coordinates of your ingot pile? News here is making it sound like there won't be anything left standing in the eastern quarter of the country. But I'll bet a lit' ole hurricane won't move that lead pile very far

Sixgun, it does sound like you are ready for just about anything. My stepdaughter lives in Baltimore, going to grad school at Johns Hopkins. I was already worried, then a pal who used to be an LEO in Baltimore told me that when a storm shuts that city down, the vermin really come out to prey.

OK, you and Blaine can have the ingot pile.

On a serious note, the news people have been playing wolf with us for so long its hard to believe what the heck is gonna happen. Last year it was Irene and the most we got was 40 mph winds and 4 inches of rain.

If it DOES happen the way the news is saying its gonna happen, there is gonna be trouble. Most all the houses built around here in the last 30 years are all "stick houses". You know, plastic siding, Tyvek, and particle board 2 X 4's. Maybe a little fake stone that 2" thick on the front.l

With Irene it hit us here in NC first taking some of the sting out of it. Sandy is running out to sea just skimming the coast. I can say it has dumping a fair amount of rain here since yesterday morning and was pretty gusty last night.

One things for sure here in central Virginia !

Regardless of whether we get much of it or not based on the winds we've been getting since last night , there won't be a leaf left on a tree by wednesday afternoon !

Well boys, its raining pretty good right now. Spent the day climbing my favorite maple tree and running a stainless 1/4" cable around it, nailin'/screwin' up the doors to the barn, put the loader on the tractor, parked the wife's Jeep out in the front yard away from the trees, (mine are in the garage :D ) talked on the phone with a mess of people and one of them, my bud Tom, who owns Targetmaster told me he could care less about his own house, he's worrying about the gunshop! :D, filled up two more 55 gallon barrels with H2o, washed all of our clothes, and talked strategy with my better half. Got more to do.......................Sixgun

The city of N.Y is in for a ride--------12 foot storm surge! subways flooded............its gonna be a mess all over. Remember......the Northeast is where most of the people and business's are, kinda like the hub of the country and we............never had anything of this magnitude. Our infratructure was not made for heavy flooding.

That list looks suspiciously short. It's at least missing a 25-20 cat rifle and every bullet mold ever made.

Take care up there. That storm dumped some nice rain here but that's about it. Looks like you all will be getting hit harder.

We took several hits back in 2004 and so I put in a big fixed Onan generator with an automatic transfer switch. The first hurricane took my power for 3 days and the second for a full day as well. Turns out, that's the secret. No hurricane has come anywhere near here since I installed that thing and the power has only gone out once for about 10 minutes since. Had I not put it in, I'm sure we'd have seen more storms. You know how that goes.

Thing that seems to overlooked about Katrina is that the help had to come through the ongoing path of the storm. Having bee in the NG I wondered how that was supposed to happen. Not so here.

Ha! Osama/obama has been on TV promising "instant aid". :D The mayor of Philly has been talking nonstop. Those boys are worried.......and rightfully so. We have a very LARGE population of individuals who need instructions on how to wipe themselves after a biological movement. Ain't like the west (except calif.---- OS, your not in that group :D ) or the south where folks know how to take care of themselves. This is the area where many have their "hands out" and waiting for freebies and instructions on how to get the freebies.

The storm surge still has 16 hours before it really hits the Jersey shore and they are flooded out NOW.

CAS--how 'ya farin up there in Bloomburg land? :D I'm thinking about Mike (uncowboy) in Jersey. Before this is over we just might see him floatin' over here to the Pa. side. :D

I was just outside checkin' on our horse and the ground is soaked. The plant called and said "no work tomorrow" yippie!!!!!!!!!!! Like a kid when theres a snowstorm! Funny thing, the bossman calls me and asked if I could come in early (2:00 am) and unload a mess of trucks and put the soda pop back in the warehouse. I tell him, "leave it alone as the roof in the warehouse is in worse shape than the trailers." And no, I have no interest in coming to work.......at all. Obama destroyed me the last 4 years. I WANT and DEMAND my free chit! :D

Well, I'm hittin' the sack.........big day tomorrow!-----------Sixgun

p.s.--The guns on the list are imaginary. I won't own junk! :D

Best of luck to you sixgun. It does sound like you are pretty well squared away so you're ahead already. Stay safe!

Tom,
You stinker....your running out on us and leaving the cleanup to us poor guys who can't go to the Rockies. :D

Now, its my turn for YOU to be safe...........have a good time. I'll be here when you get back and remember about those mountain lions..........they prefer to eat Pennsylvanians as opposed to Coloradians. Also, watch out for rattlesnakes........they don't hibernate in Colorado. And those big "tent spiders". They are 8" wide and eat 1886 Winchesters..........after they eat the gun's owners. :D ---------------Me

You can avoid damage (note sarcasm follows) simply by beig a member of the media. Everyone knows no reporter gets hurt with debris swirling around them while they report about a storm.

I know it's true cuz I saw on tv.
