I can say this Doc, the human animal is not what we once were, case in point my mother's father was 82 in 1941 when mom was born and she has a little brother! He married my grandmother when she was 19ish( not really good records on the reservation). All the junk food we eat probably doesn't help wit...

Kinda the same in the canine world, used to be you spayed/neutered at 6-10mo of age. Science has found that altered dogs have higher cancer rates, more prone to ACL tears, etc. More recently brought to my attention that even removing dew claws on new born pups can be detrimental in later life. Just got my first smoker, was brand new to a friend and he took it out of the box and assembled it then decided he lost all interest in smoking food... offered it to me for half of what he gave for it. So last weekend I did a pork butt 20240525_191851.jpg After 12.5 hours I pulled it apart for pulle...

Re: Henry 30-30 Barrel Tube Length

Ah ok, you are going to shorten. Then it makes sense to cut the mag tube.
Guess you won't know what the capacity will be until you have the work done.
It could be that the spring Henry uses is thicker dia wire taking up the space in the tube.

Yes I understand you are talking about the tubular magazine that hangs under the barrel.
Again the question is why do you want to reduce the length? Cosmetic to your eye?
And again, why bother?

Yup you need a faster twist, I've shot them in multiple rifles and less than stellar accuracy.
Someone was making a fast twist barrels for 10/22s.
They are quiet though.

Best bet is to call Henry and ask them. Heck they might even do it for you or supply a tube for you to cut yourself.
Is it just the appearance of the mag tube you don't like? Personally I'd leave it alone, no unforseen problems in machining that could screw up the functionality of the mag tube.

2x to 8x is indeed a lot of magnification for a long eye relief scope. You'll have to play with it to find a sweet spot.
