Just got my first smoker, was brand new to a friend and he took it out of the box and assembled it then decided he lost all interest in smoking food... offered it to me for half of what he gave for it.
So last weekend I did a pork butt
After 12.5 hours I pulled it apart for pulled pork.
So does anyone have a smoker? What's your favorite thing to cook on it? Recipe?
I realized this morning I don't need to buy chips- I own a jointer!

Re: OT- Smokers
Will, I have a Traeger pellet grill that's pretty versatile, and pork butt and pork ribs do well on it, and so does chicken. I still haven't really gotten into brisket, but they are so big and there is just one of me. The pellet grills don't give the intense smoke of a real offset smoker running post oak or pecan (or the high, searing heat of a gas or charcoal grill), but the results suit me and the temeperature is fairly easy to hold within 20 degrees or so. I also have a smoke tube for "cold-smoking" cheese, etc. Fill the stainless tube with pellets, tickle with torch, blow it out and sit it under the lid of your pellet or gas grill with no heat and on a cold morning it will add a lovely flavor. But the cheese must be aged a month or more for it to mellow.
Two particular favorites on the Traeger are bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers and spatchcocked chicken or turkey.
